What does the evidence show?

It occurs to me lately that the current state of Xsyon is similar to early american indians before folks started to immigrate to this continent.

For the most part, tribes were more about gathering resources and keeping their tribe healthy. As time went on and one tribe encroached upon another, skermishes would happen, but very few all out wars because it was just too costly for any tribe.

As the White Man moved in things changed. The very existence of all tribes were called into question. This motivated groups of tribes to band together at times to fend off what they saw as a threat to them and their way of life.


In Xsyon...

When tribes in one area see what they are threatened, then they will most likely bad together to some degree to fend off the threat.

When the game is more stable, animals are respawning regularly, when tribes run OUT of resources and need to find new resources so that they don't die as a tribe, when decay is on and quality matters, THEN there will be enough folks to fight, and it will actually mean something. Atm it seems some folks are frustrated this game is not what they personally want and it is starting to show in their comments and actions.

Yes, this is just a video game. but to me the evidence shows that this game is about getting prepared for what comes next and that although pvp is in game, it is not the main focus nor should it be for some time, if ever. Like in early indians times, pvp will become necessary from time to time, but will be more skermish.

The mere fact that they have done hardly anything with combat in this game says a lot for the mindset of the developers. This is NOT darkfall... This is NOT Mortal online.

Your "idea" of Xsyon fails as does your knowledge of history.

Your historical analysis is laughably flawed. Tribes hunted each other into extinction when they came into conflict over hunting areas. The 'white man' was able to exploit them by using rival tribes to scout and assist in annhialating their historical rivals as they moved westward. In only one major instance did tribes actually band together (sioux, little big horn), their inability to ally en masse is the primary reason the westward expansion was able to be made and ultimately be subjigated to the American government (despite being typically excellent combatants, specifically in guerilla warfare). sorry, but history does not bear out the '...oh it was eden until the white man came along...'.

I don't dispute that this game will likely be merely simmudhut with capture the flag (for some 'rare' resource) as the excuse for territorial control.
THere is nothing in the game to drive conflict between tribes...and without a reason, it's just arbitrary, which makes it pointless. = fail.

Right because this game isn't a sandbox where the players shape the world and we have quests and npcs and a artificial story line that directs us what to do.

Its a simulator sandbox game. its like the sims you dont have a goal except what goal you decide to make. there doesn't need to be some artifical quest system or some story line to get you involved. its a MMOSS, your goals are what ever you make them, if you want to control massive amounts of territory you form a alliance and get people to pledge there loyalty to you. if you wanna be a trader you setup a trade route/outpost and work on your barter skills and trade contacts. if you want to just cut down trees and grief people you setup a base camp near a populated area or terraform a scrap pile.

The game was never sold off as a RPG for that mater if you read the description this s a game where the players create the story, how ever we do need more tools to make that happen, but right now stability is the game focus of the game, none of the content expansion can be done if the server wont stay online and if you can't zone with out getting killed by the lag monster.

I think you tell a good tale. Which could very well be accurate as far as history is concerned. It is difficult to make any history "official" of this time since the very nature of many indigenous peoples historical recording method is not written, but spoken. In addition to this, history is often written by the victors, often in justification of the victory. I have heard many versions of the time period you speak of and do tend to gravitate to one similar to one you tell, and yes, I agree, this time is very much like that, and I like it.

Just because it's a sandbox doesn't mean that actions should not have a point....that functions should be dependent and linked.
But honestly this arguement is tired...been done several times before (how many NO NO NO THIS IS WHAT A SANDBOX IS do we really need to have?).
The 'game' is what it is, and currently it is a dead world.
Without some expeditious changes/additions/fixes...well only the very loyal or the veryy bored will be left.
