PvP on PvE
Option that allows PvP on Peace server while still protecting anyone who want to avoid it.

I present this suggestion, even though the subject sounds self-defeating (especially in light of how the server was hastily split into 2 different servers to deal with the issue). The most general problem with this suggestion will come from the pre-cemented opinion that all hints of PvP be completely impossible forever on Peace Server, since things were forced to be as they are now.
- Significant arguement:
While it can be argued that this suggestion is what should have happened to keep the community together on the same server, this suggestion simply does not endorse PvPers whom desire all players to be vulnerable to PvP like themselves - a feature that only the War server will endorse.

Then suggestion:
- Option to permanently choose PvP enabled.
All players on Peace server are pvp disabled by default.
An added option will allows players, who deliberately choose so (confirmation warning), to permanently enable PvP ONLY against other players who have themselves made the same choice.
Players with PvP enabled can be looted as on War server.
Allowing all players a single, lifetime rollback to 'pvp disabled' can arguably avoid free pvp/pve toggle griefing while also allowing players a chance to see if they like the risk or regret it.
Whether or not players are allowed to go PvP a second time with no more chances to rollback is open to debate.
Whether hometribe territory should protect from PvP for people making this kind of choice to enable PvP is open to debate.
- Cons:
Displeasure from players who chose PvP server since split, only to find that an option was implemented later that would have sated their PvP needs, thus loosing their progress on War server should they want to continue play on Peace server.
Possibility that stronger players with PvP enabled might target lone PvP enabled players, removing the desire to be at risk.
Possiblity for PvP commotion on Peace server.
Feature may be complicated to integrate in the coding on Peace Server.
- Pros:
Players on Peace server have a free choice to add the extra risk to their gameplay if they feel comfortable that they can handle themselves in PvP.
Players can choose to opt back to normal, peaceful gameplay.
Option is available in a way that forces the player to decide what (s)he wants, with limited options to exploit for griefing.
PvP commotions on Peace server are likely to be few and may be easier to resolve.

Additional arguements:
While players that would enable PvP may become prone to start fights with others, they can only hurt those that choose the risk. Also, players with PvP enabled may desire gameplay to protect others in PvP, rather than becoming aggressive themselves.

I do not think this would be good for anyone to be honest, PVPers I do not think would like it, and PVEers would not like it, nor would people that are mixed.

Mostly because it's the worst options for every part of it.
PVE will be unhappy with PVPers like you said talking and starting fights and baiting them into it. Calling them names etc.
PVPers wont like it because it doesn't allow them to do many of the things they want to do, like ganking, and other issues with like spying, and people using "disabled" mode to just be a griefer without being killed.
Mixed people will be upset because of the lack of safeties they have, once they go into PVP mode that they like to do once in a while they can't go back.

I think, and have said this many times, the best option is have everyone on 1 server, with a limited area for PVP, 5 to 10 zones area away from the lake.
This does many things, you don't even have to make rewards for people that want to got o this area, but I think that would make it even better.

mO.Om.... peeks out to see the different approach.

If i remember correctly...as the possibility of a server split was announced, those of us actives took our own in game poll and the results were more in favor of one server with pvp zones...the vote that made the decision was not solely based on our poll but was more influenced by outside of game people. A larger comunity is what makes people want to stay...satating both types would have been and still would be better for the game.

I would add to the factor tho that decaying camp boundries turn pvp on for all players. In a world after an apocolypse....gaining any advantage from looting would have people fighting with ea other to see if the fabled Supreame stainless rivets are in that camp.

The way i feel right now on Peace server is that even tho the majority of players leave ea other alone to do their building fantasies, there are still asshats that come by and ruin/grief the work you have done. I am in a place on pve that is away from people...alone...not bothering anyone...yet i cannot protect what work i have done unless i grow a tribe and on pve i do not want to hold others hands.
On pvp server...we still have people thinking in a pve mind but want the edge of pvp yet when it happens to them they cry.

So bottom line i can read MrDDT between the lines....one server is still the best for both types of players but how to do it to make everyone happy is the problem. I'd say that pvp needs to be looked at and not shoved to the back burner the way it has since the server split.

Allowing any form of PvP on the PvE server will destroy the existing PvP server. My tribe is only on PvP and takes up the space of an existing tribe on PvE, so if the PvP server gets shut down, we have no place to go and lose a priceless amount of assets. All we need on PvP to prosper are bug fixes and a combat update with things like healing and cooking. As I understand it, most of this is already coded, so give it time.

PVP server is dead so far as I can see, PVE server at least has people on it playing.

I play on War server and honestly I started playing MMOs before there even existed PvE ONLY Servers, back then we all shared the same server, PvPers and PvEers. Honestly I don't know why there wasn't just added some function to enable/disable PvP. of course with some delay in disabling PvP so you couldn't exploit it.

Just my two cents :) take care

Sounds like Glorp 'nailed it'.
