health bar during combat

during combat the health bar display on top requires you to be much closer to the target then needed to strike in order to display. It also requires you to select the target so that the orange circle displays below.

needs some way of detecting who you hit and displaying until you leave combat mode.

[Paradox]

In combat mode left click selects (adds the red circle) a target and right click deselects.
1 – 2 keys do not cycle select.

This behavior makes combat a bit cumbersome.
