Town Tech Lvl's and Commerce between Allied towns.

I've been spending the last few days reading about the game, what it has to offer and what it will be like.

It seems like the goal of the devs is to create a fluid community that changes and grows over time. Not just a bunch of tribes that beat the crap out of each other and come to each others aid.

How can this be improved on? What features can be added into a game that allows Allied Tribes to gain a growing benefit from multiple alliances.

    COMMERCE AND TRADE:

Your Tribe has recently started a small village and by chance encounters with another group of players, have decided that it would be in both of your interests to work together to secure and manage the resources in the area.

Your arcitects are soon hard at work forming the land between the 2 towns so that a road can be built to help build both your cities.
When completed these roads serve a purpose. NPC commerce caravans of "trade goods" etc travel along this road to the other allied towns and grant a steady flow of resources.
The leadership of the Tribe fund the caravan and assign it to travel between selected towns whenever they choose.
Of course there are other Tribes that will be jealous of these caravans and will seek to gain a 1 time bonus of resources if its not carefully protected.

    TOWN TECH LVLS:
I'm also curious about town vendors. (if any)
Instead of having static items that will never change city to city, what about a "tech lvl" for your shops?
It would obviously take an incredible amount of resources to "lvl up" your shops etc, but it may be worth it.
Even if certain items needed a certain amount of time to refresh in the shop itself before it can be bought again.

I dont know...just random rantings early in the morning.

That trade caravan idea sounds pretty intresting. It could be attacked and looted so the tribes would have to escort it and maybe even hire NPC help? Walking along, all of a sudden you get a raiding party coming down a slope in an ambush, a fight ensues and the victor runs off with the goods

It would make allying with another town a serious commitment, because YOUR tribe would have to foot the bill for the caravan "item".(which should be costly.) By sending it to your ally they get the goods and the caravan is returned to you and cant be used for a certain amount of time.

Different types of caravans with different "goods" would be cool.

Attackers being limited to raiding those they are at war with should keep it balanced with risk VS reward.

Yes, this sort of activity is my hope as well but it will all depend on what kind of automated security is put in place for territorial control. Xsyon has stated that everything is destroyable (as is should be) so that would include roads. How will roads be defended? No one will want to actually guard it as that is very boring and any attacking force will always outnumber the guards.

Perhaps roads cant be destroyed by players, but are damaged over time by the weather and need to be repaired.

The idea of caravans between towns that have roads between them is very nice.

This is what I imagine it might work like.

    1) The road is built between the towns, and a couple wagons are built by each town.

    2) The town mayors get together and discuss trade goods. Mayor1 wants iron and copper ingots. Mayor2 wants leather and charcoal.

    3) The agreement is signed for a certain exchange rate and priority, and players start collecting materials and depositing them in trading posts.

    4) the caravans start travelling back and forth, trading as much as possible each time they get to one trading post or the other, based on mass, volume, value, and priority.

    5) The roads are guarded based on the value of trade between the two towns, by anything from shephard boys to hardened companies of mercenaries. These guards might either roam the roads and nearby areas, or be located in player-built waystations. Perhaps both.

Think more like EVE, and less like fake protections for you.

If you want to do that type of trading there isnt going to be guards or what not protecting you unless you hire them or are they part of your tribe.

You can make trade agreements with diplo that have effects to set rates or whatnot when you sell them (or so I was lead to believe something like this). I think it has more to do with the totem and less to do with diplo.

But think of how EVE does it.

If you want to use a road to trade on, I would expect you to break guards with you, or send out guards ahead of you.

I was sort of leading to a generation of resources from the caravans and not supplied by the people involved, apart from amount needed to create the caravan.
People can trade said resources with other tribes normally, without a special mechanism.

    Obviously not.
I wasn't thinking npc's shipping things around. Just a mechanism for tribes that are serious about an alliance to use the "caravan mount" to generate resources by delivering them back and forth. Put it on a timer. Make the caravans costly so attacking one is serious business, promote PVP above and beyond the simple, "I'm gonna kill you for the sake of killing you because we're at war."

Carvan is on a timer. You despawn it after delivery and have to wait a while before you can do it again.
