To make road to houses? No offense...Just wondering. Seems like wasted programing unless making road to npc vendors. (Not that I have read what its for..much easier to ask.)

BTW..since it comes out on my birthday..I want pvp to last like i uo. none of this realistic shit..mortal online.
All I want is a good sandbox pvp game...hehe

Could someone please tell me what terrorforming is for?

All I know Is i been waiting since Ultima Online for a good game to come out. It's kinda driven me crazy. lol I payed for all the games since and have not found one close.

World of war craft clones seem to be the thing now. Its too bad but Dark fall failed. Moratal online failed. War craft failed. I pray this game don't fail! I have faith. Your my last chance, or back to watching LAME reality TV shows. :( hehe

Yes but what is the purpose of transforming the terrain? The devs (No offence guys I love you! Your my only hope hehe.) waisting time on this if its purpose is for nothing more than transforming the terrain. Shouldt they be working on other things... unless it has a purpose that is.

BTW. things I think they should be working on - bounty hunting system would rock.
No pk penalties.
a casino.
These three things much more important than Terraforming

Sandbox players typically take great pride in the areas that they live in. Taking pleasure in the ground too is something that is important to a lot of players, and becomes even more enable when you have the ability to shape it as you invision the lands around your tribe.

Just as many landlords require tenants to keep their house tidy, and lawns mowed, players in game take great care of the tribe buildings and the grounds around them. Many get upset if something was to interfere with that.

How many features do they have implemented? I sure there is more important things they could be working on than terraforming. And you say I have a low IQ? no offence but...Shove it.

Only 9 posts and you are already telling them how to develop the game?

Don’t mean that as a flame, that just seems a bit presumptuous.

I'm just tired of the games out lately that fail. I have hope in this team.

Someone chopped down a tree where I am living and left the logs there and now I can't get rid of them.

you sure sound like a guy that is expecting way too much from small indy companies making sandbox games these days.. if you want to play sandbox that "doesnt fail" i suggest u start playing one 6-12 months after release or more but ofc thats just my opinion ;)

Hopefully this can be addressed after prelude with a system that can override permissions on certain situations. Left unchecked it can develop into a 'great' PvP challenge.

Indeed, lots of uses for teraforming. Including, off top of head -

1) Defensive structures such as hills for lookouts or defense, barriers to invaders etc.

2) Setting up Trade routes and common travelways by building roads, tracks etc. **I'm hoping perhaps they have a system where roads (perhaps even roads paved with different materials) provide speed boosts so it's useful to travel along roads rather than just aimlessly.**

3) Traps for invaders or wanderers - pits perhaps, blockades, firepits etc.

4) Scenery and looking nice. Landscape gardening etc around houses or guild buildings or whatever.

5) Ego - carve your name in a hill perhaps or warn others of a clan "owning" certain territory by use of symbols or words in terrain?

I'm sure there's more too but this all seems interesting to me. ;)

Terraforming is one of the key features that drew me into this game. If you dont like it....dont use it....

Terraforming should be interesting but i think they put a bit to much importance in it. :( maybe a bit more mind should have been payed to making certain areas of the game more playable, the big pink elephant in the room is combat. Then posibly allow smale scale constructions on free land and maybe even owned land ie. small tribe moves in on a big tribes turf.

Terraforming is a core engine feature. Its not one of those things you can sneak in at the last minute and hope all works out. A good portion of server performance will revolve around terraforming, so it definately needs a lot of love early on.

You can build a dirt wall to give your town some defense, you can dig a ditch to do the same. Terraforming will have an impact on combat and PvP moreso than anyone might realize since we haven't seen it in a PvP game. Wurm had it, but I suspect PvP in Xsyon will be more involved and fun. Its already worlds better imo, though it does need some improvements.

I like the terraforming, but I question why fires should burn endlessly.

All these flames are burning my eyes.

What's wrong with suggesting that fires should burn out eventually unless they are fueled? I'm pretty sure that will be happening eventually anyway since they do have a menu selection for adding wood.

No I agree, at first I thought you were still in elementary school when I read your double posts. Then you mentioned UO and you have to be at least 25.

The terraforming feature makes Xsyon absolutely stick out of the masses. Problem from a marketing standpoint in my opinion: many people want something to look at and not something to become creative with. And it takes some time before actually creative people have used the terraforming feature to make things to look at and go "Ah, oh!".
There is a tiny java based MMO called Wurm which has terraforming and it was awesome to drop into the world and run around and see sometimes huge structures built but long abandoned by former players. It gives a rigorous feel of true history. Plus I'll never forget when I was with a small village how we decided to raise a path through a big lake to connect more easily to the road on the other side. Took a lot of people many days to do that. And it was useful, not just cosmetic stuff. In another MMO we had community projects to rebuilt destroyed structures like tunnels or bridges (no swimming in the game) to reach no lands where settling was allowed. We finished a bridge once 4am in the morning after weeks of working together. And it took the last helper one hour to get to the bridge site while all other people were waiting to place the last stone to finish it (popup system, you could not walk over it before it was 100%). It was a true experience of achievement.
But yes, before a community that uses these features to built content hasn't established the game can go through a starvation phase for consumer-oriented people (no offense intended).
