View Full Version : Thinking about a new lore/RP based tribe

I'm thinking about a new lore/RP based tribe for launch and wanted to look whether other players might be interested. A lot of details aren't yet filled in, we can sort that out with the founding members if there's any interest.

The base idea is to model the tribe loosely after a medieval European monastery, located somewhere in the mountains, away from the frenzy of Lake Tahoe. The tribe should probably be neutral, in more than one sense: we just don't really care about the warmongers, we just don't really care about the traders, we just don't really care about power or wealth. We will defend ourselves but otherwise let good and evil alike have their ways.

Instead we're the scholars, we're the monks and priests of our age. We try to keep a calendar of this new age, we try to record its history, we watch the sky to determine the run of the stars and find out what the coming and going of the seasons tells us. We want to know how we came and where we go.

The new world hangs in a moment of uncertainty. Though the rift in reality has called forth many benevolent gods and creatures, this truly is the time of the Apocalypse. The seven seals are about to be broken. The Four Horsemen loom over the land awaiting their chance to spread destruction and chaos. Devils and angels vie for control of their earthly battlefield.

We are the Keeper of the Seals.

------------------------------------------

This all is until now not more than a wild idea of mine. Basically I'm just looking whether other people might be interested in something like this. I'm open to all suggestions and new ideas. The tribe name above is just a working title too. Glad to hear other suggestions. I believe the tribe will and should never be a big one, I'd like to start with perhaps 3 or 4 people and wouldn't want to grow beyond, say, 20 anyway.

My in-game name is Vito, otherwise contact me via the forums here.

Just a short info for the other people, the spot has been taken by another tribe or two, can't really say how many tribes there are because I cannot find the totem and the players there don't answer on any /s or /w questions. I'm in-game scouting for another spot.

The Wolverines have some good secondary spots nearby. If you're still looking then hit me up in a PM and we'll try to get that info out to you ASAP.

Guessing you already founded a tribe? I saw your post in our Forsaken Tribe Thread. Our ideas match yours almost to the teeth. We even ran RP events on Mortal Online so we have experience in that. If you ever wanted to merge our tribes, Forsaken will always welcome you. We are in a pretty remote location, with great resources and only a few neighbors. Every tribe needs to have their scholars and their warriors to defend themselves. Our mission is to never be the aggressor, we maintained this ideal in Mortal Online only using combat to defend ourselves in times of conflict and I believe we can do it in our time with Xsyon.

Guessing you already founded a tribe? ...Aye. We have a small homestead tucked away in the mountains not too far from Sugarpine. A beautiful place, splendid views, fresh crystal clear water, no junkpile to be seen. ;-) All members of the Forsaken Tribe will be always welcome to pay us a visit.

[Edited to add that interested players are still welcome to join us.]

We will be travelling monks. Gatherers, hunters, secret messengers, scouts.

Xidian, please check your PM for details.

I had a few players recently asking me for more information, thus I thought it a good idea to update this thread.

One of the questions asked was about the requirements to join the tribe/clan (whatever it will develop into) and whether there are any. Yes, there are requirements, here they are.

1. You need to have a sensible character name. Either use a normal given name or invent a new one. Both is fine. But make sure the character name fits a tribe that is based off lore/RP. Any form of reference to people known in RL or *gasp* names with numbers or leet speak is totally out of the question. Sorry, that decision is final.

2. We are neutral. I repeat it, we are neutral. Amongst other things that means that members of the tribe will never attack other players unless in a state of war. We will defend our tribe and our allies but we will never engage in PvP unless attacked or in a state of war. Never.

3. Personally, I do not like any form of cheating, exploiting, meta-gaming, whatever you might call it. You play one character or you do not play in our tribe. The moment that I'm convinced that you have a second account to gain an advantage is the moment I kick you out of the tribe. Sorry again.

4. We try to live in the mountains. We like the mountains. We like the gorgeous views from a mountain top at dawn. We like to explore, we like to travel. That means that we will not progress fast in our character development. We're fine with that. So should you.

This all may sound like we had no fun in the game. To the contrary, we have a lot of fun playing our characters and nobody minds the occasional "LOL" in tribe chat. But we will do our best to roleplay our characters when meeting with other survivors.

Thanks for reading.

I love the requirements for this tribe. I am very, very interested in joining... in which zone is the tribe currently based? And who do I contact?

Hello Bizley,

these days I'm the only monk left. We have our main monastery in zone 777, it's the "Monastery of the Twin Waterfalls". Feel free to contact me either here or in-game.

One thing stopping me is all the stuff that would take so long to drag over there (I've set up camp in northwest 895). But I could be persuaded. The only other thing is that I'm trying to decide if I want to be ultra-neutral (as the Brethren seems to be) or an active anti-PKer, roleplaying more as a paladin than a monk. Is the any chance for the Brethen to have two orders or be associated with a paladin group?

Hmm, paladin order? Hmm, can't say I think it will work. Practically, we monks (even though I'm currently the only one), see, we would just shake our heads about the folly of people thinking they can change the world. :) Beside that, it's quite lonely where we are, I haven't seen a PK-er since MrDDT came along a month or two ago. ;-) Hard to play as anti-PK when there's no PK-er around, hehe.

Feel free to drop by for a RP-session or for just a chat or some trade anyway.

Thanks, I look forwards to my first contact with the Brethren...
