Stop the download server?

Could we stop the download server for a little while people get totems set up?

right i believe they have every right to download the game but could we maybe pause it or something for like 5 minutes?

Or they could upload the full 3gb full installer to an external website for people to download from, fileserve comes to mind, would ease the servers, let them download, and let us play.

No it was unfair of them to wait till today to try and download the game when they could all week. Disable the download server, put it on a torrent. Make a new launcher. Fix this problem now.

its funny cause whenever you launch, you always forget the simplest of things. can someone make a torrent of this?

it cant be the download...the server would not crash if it were bandwidth related.

Update February 18

Things are settling down a bit. The main problem we're having is not the number of players online, but the number of players downloading. I was hoping that more players would have the game downloaded ready for this, but it appears that many players waited until now to start patching.

Of course they can't stop people downloading. Regardless. It has to be asked - how stupid do you have to be to wait until the server comes back up to download the client, knowing a zillion other people are trying to at the same time :V

They could pull the server down for a week and there isn't anything you could do about it.

What i'm saying is, you can't cut the access to download servers... pulling down servers for a week is different - non of us would have access... you can't let some download the client, and not others... if you pull down anything, it's gotta be pulled down, across the whole board.... just relax, dead with the slowness and lag, a week or two everything should be smooth.

yeah I think they understand having the client and game on the server was a bad idea. Lesson learned. I have faith in these guys that they will find a solution pretty soon, they have always been pretty good in beta. Like everyone else I think making a torrent and removing it from the game server is the answer...just might take a few days to get all that set up.
