Ultimately it's my responsiblity so here's what we're going to do:

We're going to need to wipe because of the data loss and multiple totems. I apologize, but that's the best solution.
The wipe will happen when the upgraded servers / server location is ready.

I've backed up the database and if possible we will restore tribes to their current locations. I will post details about how we will deal with this when I'm positive that we can. Any tribes / homesteads placed after this announcement will not be restored, so if you are joining us now, check out any enjoy the game and plan to situate yourself after the next wipe.

All players will get two weeks additional free play time. Effectively that makes March 15th our 'official launch' start. The actual start and final wipe will be as soon as possible once we have the new servers set up.

Good for Jooky on making what I am sure was a tough call. I was anti-wipe when it was about the land rush being unfair, but corrupted data is a whole different ballgame.
Just wish we had some way of knowing when those new servers will be set up. I mean are we looking at early next week likely? Or march 1st more likely?
I know there's no way to say for sure... just curious :)

As soon as I can confirm whether or not we will need to wipe, I will.
So its a bit up in the air, and not very clear if there will be a wipe or not. So I guess its pointless grinding away on a character at this point until we know for certain if there will be a wipe or not. Its very disappointing having spent 6hrs yesterday to place a totem, what a waste of a day.

Yeah id not be thinking about it for at least a full week then i wont be disappointed. Good on Jooky for coming forward with honest info tho. Seems it cant be helped and they are at least trying to save positions of those that placed which as well as keeping people happy will also avoid another land rush lag nightmare.

I wonder how long the server upgrades and relocation will actually take.

Yep thats the question, BUT speculating usually ends up with us being disappointed so prob best not to think about it and go do/play something else for a week or so!

(are u actually from ashfield btw?)

While I was against a wipe at first, after trying to play all day and not being able to do anything it seems like a good idea to just start all over. On top of that I am for whatever it takes to fix the game even if it means starting over.

Now the asshat saying it wasn't a database corruption can go shove a big one for not knowing what he was talking about. Defiantly a tough call though, not sure i'll go all out until the new server arrives.

Yeah probably right, on one hand i feel like ive wasted a day (and most of the night) for nothing, although i have got through a few levels on angry birds at the same time. But ultimately im feeling more philosophical about now and what will be will be we will get there in the end!

Good to know what will happen and i do of course like the two weeks extra.
With a bit of luck it's all done before next weekend, but most important is that they get it done right.

Good decision in my opinion.

Also, I'm very impressed with Xsyon's open communication to us players since the 2 weeks or so that I'm here. Much appreciated.

Now what's in question is the part about restoring tribes. Is that after the wipe? And will they be looking at trouble tickets as well as the ones that managed to stay up. It took us several hours but we did get one planted and logged off to get it saved. But when we came back latter that night, it was just a pole and we where in different tribes. Tried putting down homesteads to hold the spot, but those didn't hold ether.

I'll admit I'm a little disappointed, but all in all this is a very good thing.

We'll soon be able to start clean with (hopefully) playable conditions. Further, the people who joined quite recently will have an opportunity, though laggy, to become familiar with the game, learn the controls and UI, and maybe check out a tribe for when the "real thing" really does begin.

Well we have been through how many wipes so far, many of us have swapped tribe spots over and over already. I dont see any rerason why, if we have to do a wipe for data base issue, why we can't just do it full like always and move on. Personally I think you are creating a policatal shit storm for yourselves by trying to do a partial wipe and holding plots. Set a date and a time and lets just do this. Call this one a mullighan and lets move on.

I think its a good idea. My concern with having the old totems ported over from the wipe is the validity of the data. Since so many placed totems, or mistakenly placed multiple totems (or intentionally), or tried to place them but it didn't take or it took but didn't last... How good is that old data? If the saved data is 'bugged' in any way, then we are gonna be inundated with complaints about tribal placements. This will involve research by the devs/guides, arguments, counter arguments, etc. Not that those things are bad, but ultimately one tribe or another will be disgruntled and while all that is taking place, the tribes in question will not be progressing.

I don't know if the scenario is gonna happen, but it does concern me.

As much as I don't like the idea, I say.... have a new land rush. With new servers, far fewer downloads, less lag issues, should be rather fun. While it didn't work out well this run, it was rather exciting trying to get to the place you want and placing your totem. I think it would be good all around. There will be many disgruntled ppl no matter which method you choose, but this way, everything will start clean.

Just my opinion. I hope the data is all good, and when the tribes are 'reconcecrated', everything works out for the best.
