I'm sure terraforming is the reson for all the lag. I know I was digging up a bunch the other day and a few of the neighbors apeared to be too. There was alot of lag going on around that time, and I'm sure if you add all the diggers up it puts a beating on the server. So Diggers x lots of Diggers = Terraforming down.
Just a hunch.
