It's been a while since this topic got a mention, just wondering if this is being implemented in the near future.
Thanks

Agree, didn't he order the new game server the same day he ordered the download server? And that was here about a week ago. Pretty sure we are NOT waiting on a new game server now.

I doubt there'll be any further updates/announcements until the Xsyon email poll is closed (3rd of March 2011 Midnight US PST) and the votes have been counted.

That means the very earliest we can expect an update on launch will probably be on Friday afternoon.

The suspense is killing me :D

Pretty sure this is BS. How was the download server ready a week ago? You guys were doing so good with the truth too.

Expect to see the population start to bleed out if you don't put something concrete on the table.

Some of us are patient, others less.

A download server is a simple thing to set up, as all it does is, well, download stuff. Setting up a server for hosting a production application requires much more tuning, testing, and tweaking.

If the game is delayed again, I'll probably get a refund and return to this game a few months later once things have settled and the dev(s) start rolling out new content and enabling most of the game features. Delays make me edgy with inidie games, especially when it has a 12month delay already under its hood, if I'd have known that, I wouldn't have preordered yet.

Wasn't the " new " server supposed to have been ready for the intial ( this years ) launch of 1st March ? Pretty sure that was part of the "reason " for the lag on the 18th Feb was because the game was currently at an " interim " location and was supposed ot be moved to the new one with higher bandwtidh by the 1st March ..... or did i dream that ?

I hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't think there is a chance that we launch on the 7th or 8th.

It's already the 3rd & we haven't seen an update from Jordi in 4 days. The window he set for himself is closing rapidly. Even if he does magically get the server situation sorted out this week, that leaves only a couple days of testing it to make sure all is in good working order.

And while I know that setting up a game server is not quite like building a home PC, I feel confident that it should not take weeks & weeks. Hell, when Rift saw that they were sorely under-powered they had 30+ new servers up in less than a day.

My inner conspiracy theorist says there is much more to the story here. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Jordi's hosting company can't provide what he wants/needs to make this happen. If they could, it probably would have been done back in November when he first requested the power upgrade.

However, he's probably stuck in a contract with them for what he has now. He can't afford to pay out this contract & not use the server AND pay a new hosting provider for another working server. So, he (and we) are stuck with pleading to the current hosts for better hardware/bandwidth.

I do not think it's a hosting issue. Has to be software related at this point. It's not like he is in a third world country with the hosting, he is hosting with a company in Chicago. They should easily have the resources to host his software, and then some. :D

I dunno. I certainly agree there are significant software issues Jordi is still scrambling to fix. However, no software issue explains why the hardware upgrade has been delayed for over 4 months & counting...

There is another possibility along the lines of what I first suggested....maybe Jordi can't afford the server he needs & is trying to negotiate with the hosting company. Or maybe he's locked into a contract for a certain level of hardware & the hosting company is holding him to it. Any way you slice it, there seems to be something slightly insidious behind this delay.

Sorry, dont normally comment on stuff like this but, if the game is delayed... you won't loose any money[unless it is cancelled] and buying the game again later down the line will loose you 2 months free sub. Surely the thing to do here would be leave it, and if it releases well sorted, you can play straight away. If it doesnt you can ride out 2 months free... cancel sub if it doesnt improve and just resub later when you want to try it again?

Or am i missing something?

Grammar aside, I agree with Yami. You have literally nothing to lose by hanging in there at this point. Besides, you don't want to lose your nifty pre-order weapon, right? :)

This is what worries me the most. He was on point with daily updates, sometimes multiple updates per day. The silence usually means something not good and he is thinking of a way to break it to us.

We need some news, Devs. Seven days of silence after a failed pre-launch is not what we need. Hurry up with the release because, you should already know, most of us are loosing interest in this game and hype is falling down too.

Good work and thanks.

The problem is, a BIG lack of progress, everything is just far too slow for my liking. I feel that in those 2months if/when the game is released not alot will happen with the game beacuse the game is far too ambitious for the 1 or 2 people working on it with very limited resources, even sorting out new servers seems to be quite a challenge for the dev(s). Unless they pump out good updates every month and I doubt that happening because in the past year not alot has changed in the game looking at the changelogs going all the way back to early 2010, it won't be worth the £9 a month I'm wondering. Were the devs busy changing the code since they fired alot of the programmers perhaps, is that why it's been slow for the past 13months or so?

I think that is a little off. First of all - if you buy the game later you are sure to get one month included I assume. Also if he waits the two months and cancels and resubs later he has lost all free play timecompared to if he checks back and buys later where still gets the free month.

Also I he mentioned when there are more features. We know that "prelude" could run 6-9 months according to the last thing I saw from Jordi. If he means really significant changes he is looking well past 2 months.

The most he loses by getting a refund is the "second" free month. . which would be wasted "waiting" in your scenario anyway. He might break even then assuming that the 2nd month after launch has the gameplay and stability he was looking for.

That wasn't very clear but I am full of all kinds of sick and medication today. . headed to work of course for some viral PvP with coworkers. I always win. They think they are safe in their starting zone. . ha! I am going to exploit the bug I have.

EDIT: See I was late there. . oh well.

It's now been 5 days with no updates. We're only 3-4 days from the expected head start launch, no new server this week as was expected, Jordi is probably passed out on his floor from exhaustion & thus AWOL. Cue the fat lady. Does anyone still think we launch on the 7th or 8th?

Quite the whopper of an update & one that is SURE to spark some serious forum arguments. I take my comments about the fat lady singing & look forward to the staggered anti-climactic land rush. That first day is gonna be BRUTAL for non-pvper's. Let the forum pvp begin!!!
