The third stage should have started yesterday but all we still can do is forage run fish or jump even packman is more entertaining at this stage lol...

This feels too much like beta and by amount of rage on forums it seems xsyon is crumbling ^^...

Xsyon at least has alot of life left and still a decent population for what type of game it is. Im boarding this boat - but with a lifejacket this time!

I would gladly give up any headstart so they can get as many bugs as possible ironed out. I know there are lots of people that feel like they got screwed with the decrease in the amount of head start we are getting or lack of.

Regardless of those that don't want to give the devs any slack, jordi works 18-20 hour days to keep you guys happy and he's already stated that he has having health issues for putting so many waking hours into this game and needs to launch not only for his health but for financial reasons as well.

When he set the new launch date the community begged him to set it back and he made announcement that he would do just that but he couldn't drag it out much longer due to what i just said abou this health and financial reasons.

We're not going to see more programmers join this team until the game launches and that's what this team really needs.

I remember once we were late on designing a chip, 9 months late! We got in trouble! I asked if we got in more trouble because we were late, or because we didn't alert senior management that we were 9 months late until the day we were due. Well, it was the latter. We would have been better off just saying up front that we're not gonna make it, and need more time, a LOT more time. Instead, we kept it a secret until the actual delivery day, and THEN we said oops, we're gonna be 9 months late.

I have a bad feeling that this is happening here too. The delivery day has come and gone, twice. The game is still not playable, and the final due date is less than 48 hours away. I think we'd be better off if Jordi just came out and said this is how it is, instead of saying nothing.

Notorius has had my money for a month now, and I still don't have a playable game. I still want to play, and don't believe in refunds if you don't like the game. But the lack of communication is beginning to wear. I just wish he would pick one of the answers below:

1) the game is ready, and I'm turning on the features today or tomorrow, launch as planned on the 15th
2) the game is not ready, and realistically, it will take several more months to get there
3) I don't know whether the game will work or not, we are just winging it.

Let it go. This ship has sailed; this horse is dead, I'm sure there are more. This has been debated, complained about, defended, analyzed, and otherwise discussed. They already explained that there would be little to no headstart depending on the situation. If u bought the game for the headstart, then u are rather silly to begin with. BTW, this does suck. Well when it says "Be among the first to explore and settle the World of Xsyon!" there's nothing there about gathering/hunting/pvp/crafting. I guess you're right! YAY DEVS THANK YOU!

Also after the first wipe we were promised 2 additional weeks of free play. Too bad the last 2 weeks have either been totally pointless or unplayable.

It will be interesting to see what happens regarding a head start. Right now, I think most people (including the Devs) would just be happy to get the game up running and stable. The way things are going, it isn't readily evident we will even have a playable game again by the 15th.

So, I'm not one of those that are immediately worried about whether I get a head start. In fact, I'd be happy to welcome others into the game in two days, if the game is running with everything turned on, isn't crashing every hour, and has little or no lag.

Headstart, too, can mean different things...not just having built some shelters and leveled some skills. Could also be taken as having got to experience it before the final wipe and having more of an understanding of how things work, where you wanna live etc.

Head start has a common meaning: you get to play the game before other people do.

For Xsyon, it has no meaning. If you paid the money, you get to play. You do get a weapon for "pre-ordering", but you don't get to play before anyone else. In fact, nobody can play now.

As a programmer having worked on very large projects, there are definite stages: concept, alpha, beta, pre-release, release. We are about 1/2 way between concept and alpha right now. In software terms, beta means you have all the features in, and they have passed unit testing. The system has been put together, tested, and you believe it should all work. You allow friendly people to try it, with no warranty that it will work in production. Alpha means you have all the features in, and they have passed unit testing, but the system has not been completely activated, and no one expects it to work. That is where we are now, except the features are not all in.

So what does "head start" mean in this context? Nothing really, you can pay your money now to get to play a barely-alpha stage game. Except you can't even do that now. All you can do is pay the money, as of today.

I don't think people are that upset about not being able to play proberly, because they just waited a month so whats a few days more. I think waiting for something to happen and refreshing that Updates post is more annoying.

Technically 'launch' is still two days out. If things get turned on tomorrow he's good. And if they get these lag issues that cropped up with everything off sorted out first that'll be better for the game.

All the love and respect for this awesome programmer, but still, give realistic clarity about the current state of the game.
It will ease the minds of most of us that want Xsyon to succeed (and at the same time give Jordi/Notorious his rest and health back).

You will be getting 2 weeks of free play;

Game goes live March 15th so originally you would get 8 weeks of play which runs out May 15th. As it is now add 2 weeks on to that so it will be around June 1st before you get charged for a sub fee. So you will get your extra 2 weeks
