Update to starting terrain everything else will remain off....

1 question, why?

why pay attention to starting terrain when the vast majority makes a character and books it as fast as they can away from the spawn points?

if i misunderstood the info on the launcher i apologize in advance.

They are adding more junk piles to the starting areas they say, why? I don't know. They also took away global chat.

They said they had to fix terrain as terraforming was causing huge server strain and the terrain fix fixes that I think.
The reason why everything else is still off is in the patch notes. they said it will remain off until they see if this patch was good; if it fixes stuff they will turn on stuff, if not they will try another patch

I dont understand why they added more junkpiles to the starter areas. Its as if they dont want us to venture further. What they are saying is "Hey guys, here you have a pretty big world to populate. But we only put the much needed junpiles near the lake so you all stay there." And then they find it strange there are lag problems? Im a bit confused by this strategy. Id say put more junkpiles away from teh starter areas so that people dont cluster at the lake.

Taking away general chat...Devs I salute you. Thanks. :)

ya know.. junkpiles don't last forever, they eventually deplete, and more junkpiles are created when people throw out a lotta shit in one area

That is exactly what he did.. By * starter area * he said he means the entire starting area which is the entire map.He made it clear junk piles were being added to places they hadn't been before.

Yeah if there are more junk piles spread around the world it will tremendously help with the complaints about not getting a good spot. Hopefully we will see them spread out equally and in a variety of sizes.

How short some memories are... I feel pretty certain that they made more junkpiles to pacify all the people that that were complaining that they 'lost their spots' when they did the unannounced roll back the other day, without allowing enough time for people to adjust before doing it. More junkpiles means more starting areas with an (initially) ample supply of resources. Desired result? Less complaining.

If this is so I stand corrected. Thanks. ;)

Global chat is gone. More junk piles scattered around. Less overall complaining as a potential result. No more red text. Did I mention yet how happy I am about that?

It's well worth the time it's taking to download this patch.

Well we all question the motive "why"

YET we know why. Because of the community.

Some didnt have a good spot due to the dev's not giving enough notice for totem drop (2nd time), that caused a major uproad. More than likely listened and put this in to calm tenions.

Now we ask for this, ask for that and so on and continue to ask ourselves the simple question WHY. Ask ourselves why and think and you shall know the answer to the question.

The starter area is everything we currently have access to, Jooki said

Ok... let me clarify why prioritize junk piles when the game feels so broken, the revelation of new junk piles could have come at a later time with some backstory of some natural disaster or after the snow melted away to reveal new patches of junk. but for the love of god get the game going already seriously screw these stupid choices the dev team keeps making,

Here is a road map for the clueless company

1. Get servers stable and preforming up to snuff (DL server and world server)
2.Get features turned on that this game is supposed to be (turn them on slowly over time i dont care)
3.Fix cosmetic things and cave into the "whining" community, only after #1-2 otherwise there will be no community to please.

Damn people can be stupid sometimes. They are having problems with tribe, clan and homested radius areas. They have said so several times in the last couple days. They adjusted the sizes of each to try and accommodate more people. It helped a little. Guess what?? the area is huge and i dont think they were ready for this much interest in the game or the amount of people that would be preordering. If you payed attention to your patch info, it looks as if they are expanding the starter area slightly and adding some smaller junkpiles to more remote areas. This will allow for a much more versitile landscape for PVP and trade. Everyone QQ, just play the f'n game when it starts or quit.

Completely off-topic: Notice how the OP capitalized both W's in "wow" as if he was abbreviating World of Warcraft - just shows the influence that game has on the MMO community. :)
