Terraforming

Why cant I terraform, I have a shoval.. what do I need to do?

You need to be on tribal land...either your own tribe or join someone else's (if they let you terraform).

also (i know its the basics but had me stumped first time) you need to equip your shovel in your right hand. open up your inventory and make sure its in your right hand. then there's the above matter mentioned that you need to drop a tribe/homestead totem for yourself to terraform the land or join another tribe as mentioned
