Ive not seen any hard cap on stats yet. I believe there is posted somewhere saying there is no hardcap.

There is no penalty for death in this game. If you are killed a player near you can loot you for 30s, then your body is gone and you respawn where your totem is.

You cant take items off alive players. You cant steal from anything you dont have access too (tribes you are not party of, or carts you dont have access too). But you can take items that are not in these areas, like piles of logs near a tribe area some might call "stealing" but its allowed by the game.
