Its really hard to specialize in weaponsmithing when blades are so rare to find. My clan has been scavenging for metal since the wipe and only found 1 blade. This is rather frustrating, especially when you look at the resources the other specializations are able to gather.
Recommendation: make blades craftable.
Blades may end up being craftable once metalworking and forging are implemented. However, for the time being, they are only items you can scavenge. There are a lot of factors that may explain why you aren't getting blades. But, since the latest wipe, I know that my tribe has been looking for blades a lot and have had a decent amount of success.
