Questions about character names

I am not yet in game so forgive me if the question is obvious if I was making a character.

If I delete my character, can I use the same name to create a new one? (some games you can not)

and

When there is a wipe and the server goes retail (live) can I reuse my character name assuming people dont jack me and take it.

I guess only a developer can say for sure, but I don't see why not.

Everyone's login name is a protected name, only that person can use it. :)
