Yes they are hidden. Prolly should be changed now that we have a Peace server where it's impossible to see it.
Before when the servers were just 1 server it had PVP and was easy to see, just have a friend attack you and check the combat log.
The crafting system for armor is very complex and pretty much it works where you have bone armor gives the best defense then leather then cloth then grass. If all the quality levels are the same. QL plays a major factor also in the defense an armor gives.
