This is a suggestion what if you could keep cattle for milk/meat also chickens for eggs/meat it would open up a whole host of different food combinations.
Also drinks other than water beer/coffee/tea that would open up more things to farm and so on.

Traps could also be a good idea to catch small animals such as rabbits and so on also nets could be used to catch fish.
