One server.

Hey there, been playing for a couple of days, had a talk with some people, did read some forum topics new and old.

What hits me with a big battlehammer on my head is why do we have community split up into two servers, why wont we try make one server that is allright for both pvp and pve.

What im suggesting is one server with an ability to create a pvp toon or pve toon which cant be killed by players and is free to farm all day long as they would on pve server.

It really pains me to see pvp server so empty just because people prefer to have their server more active.
With this, people who like to pvp would do so, people who want to build only would do so and we all could talk and trade between everyone of us.

Pvp players could have some sort of small icon beside their toon to signal they are pvp oriented or something of that sort.
I am sure this would help a lot with overall population.

Would love to see one, active, full of trading server.

Merging could be done by refunding materials from buildings from pvp server but even if nothing could be transfered i am pretty sure pvp people would go to such a server anyway.

Originally it was just one server, and I'll just leave one for the reason IMHO for the split

Gankers

If someone creates a pvp toon then im sure he agrees to any and all pvp that can happen to him.
Pve toons wont need to worry about anything at all.

I WANT THIS!...Our tribe is instantly going to the PVE Server if Jordi brings a menue where each tribe can click PVE or PVP!
We lost the most Things on PVP!!...but this this better if all the Player are one Community!

I hope this is coming!!

WWWWAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one to gank.

That's basically all this is about, the game is seeing more players but the War server is still dead, should give you some idea about how most gamers nowadays feel about PVP.

Bejaymac the reason pve gets more people than pvp is simply because there is more people on pve.
Those that want to play on pvp go away after realising there wont be any pvp without people so they go to pve to at least have a lot more people to trade and play with.

I agree for this kind of feature to create pvp or pve toons, this would not conflict with each other.

The community is not really split, PvE by far has many more players than PvP and that follows the standard split in general of players of MMO's (PvE vs PvP).

The designating your character as a PvP or PvE toon at creation sounds like an OK idea to me but I think a dueling designation for characters might be better. Also, on the 'in development list' is the ability for tribes to flag their tribe for PvP, although I have no idea how the details of this would actually work.

Reintegrating the servers seems a bit of a pipe dream as individuals and tribes have diverged very differently on the different servers, most have even chosen one server over the other and working out which each member would keep would be almost impossible to code. If the few PvP people on PvP server want to abandon the PvP server if some type of limited PvP is enabled on the PvE server that might be an option, IMO.

I dont think there is any real reason to keep pvp server up, this probably sounds very badly to some pvp players who remember pvp still being alive.
Thing is from what i can see in archives and hear from others pvp is neglected very, very much and that led to it being empty.
This by no means mean that pvp is less popular, nicely done pvp with updates is VERY popular.

Adding stuff like flagging tribes for pvp would kill off pvp server anyway.

I think that stuff people own on war doesnt matter much, once some sort of pvp would be enabled on pve most if not everyone would go there.
A lot of people search for pvp in games, i came in here beliving there is pvp since there is war server and even tho i like the game i already dont see the point in staying around and i bet there is a lot of people like that.
Some log in to war server play for a while and go pve even if they would love to pvp there is no people to do so.

I dont understand what you mean by diverged individuals but it could be kept simple, refunding tribes assets in resources for example, there is no need to transfer whole tribes to another server. Hell like i said before probably most people would be just happy to keep their toons and renaming them if there is same named one should be easy enough.

I really cannot understand this split, it doesnt make any sense to me at all, pvp could have been changed in some way to keep all the people in the same place instead of ripping apart this small community.

I am VERY sure that one big server with pvp and pve would attract a lot more players if they announced it nicely.

All of my 5 toons have alts on PVP and I enjoy playing on PVP and PVE. I can see it going either way.

What are you enjoying exactly while playing on pvp server millsdo?

Howdy everyone,

First I will explain the server split.

Since launch, as far as I can discern from research and data Xsyon's population has been 80% PvE players and 20% PvP players. (In the past I noted it was 75%/25% but 80%/20% is more accurate).Since the server split, new players' choice of server (usually without any information regarding the population of each server) has followed this 80%/20% split.

At the time of the split, the game allowed for free play with limits as an introductory trial for new players. The game population had also reached its lowest point.

Many players were turned off by the existence of PvP. The daily combat logs showed repeated ganking of new players. I received many messages by players stating they would play only if there was a PvE server. A survey regarding Xsyon conducted on massively that revealed the same trend. I also surveyed players that had signed up on the website but never logged into the game (even for free). One of the main reasons given was simply that PvP was allowed.

In addition, conflicts between PvP and PvE players had often caused a lot of drama requiring me to step in attempting to mediate situations. This took away valuable time and often slowed development to a crawl. Something had to be done.

Among the PvP crowd there have been groups of players with different desires:

- Players that like the occasional thrill and danger of PvP.
- Players that want to participate in war games (capture the flag etc.) but not full on tribe siege or destruction.
- Players that want siege allowing the destruction of buildings and ransacking even full take over of other tribes.
- Players that want PvP based territory and resource control and use PvP to dominate trade or other players.
- Gankers / griefers that want to force PvP on players that don't want it.

Of course some players want combinations of the above.

Some of these desires were not not compatible with a server of primarily PvE players so to further advance the game for both type of players and for the other reasons mentioned above I proposed a server split.

Dividing the game into PvP and PvE regions as a compromise was discussed here. In that discussion, the trend was for PvPers to want some advantage for PvP zones. That would not have been fair for the majority of players and I would be stuck with the issue of new players not wanting to join a game with open PvP. I proposed a PvP and PvE regions with no advantages for PvPers and did not receive a positive response.

Time was running out and I could not reach a compromise welcomed by PvP players, so the second server was added.

Unfortunately this met with resistance and frustration from many PvPers who instead of welcoming new PvP players and trying to build a new community, drove off newbies with griefing or left the game themselves.

Despite this, the overall population grew and conflicts subsided allowing me to focus on development and finally enjoy working on the game without constant distractions!

At this point I am open to the return to one server and have opened a feedback thread for this as it would require several conditions. I welcome everyone to this discussion!

On PVP I tend to play as a lone survivor. On PVE I play as a character that build's relationships with tribes. Two different play styles.

All the gankers went to PvE it seems, me and a couple of friends been on PvP over a week with 1 fight. all i have met so far is people happy to help, trade and talk.
If there is to be One server it should be a completely new server to avoid any advantages and give us a nice new map.

The problem is the extreme at both ends,

The "elite pvpers" want to be able to force pvp on anyone and only seem to suggest more ways to alienate the pve players.

While the Super delicate pve players want complete protection from so much as a un-nicely worded whisper.

There is almost no compromise between either camp, then you have the normal players that enjoy between a lot to no pvp, but dont even know what a forum is, let alone voice an opinion.

Peace zones, war zones, some way to flip between, nope aint having it, everyone basically wants too much to be taken away from the other side.

I just dont see this at the moment.

I play both servers and to quite honest there is much more griefing going on the PVE server.

Greifing is more then just actually killing a player, there are many ways to grief someone without doing any PVP
and this is what is happening on PVE right now simply because a player cant defend himself by killing someone,
their only defense is to grief back in a non pvp way.

So No, on PVP there are no elite players going around killing every new player at the moment.

Though the reason there is no actual PVP on the war server is to few players, I would expect actual pvp gank killing to occur
once the population of the war server reached a certain point.

I like the idea that have Extreme be a PVP area, where once you enter it, you get flagged for PVP.
