Scavenging - time for a revamp?

Pressing the scavenging button and picking up every single item every time regardless of if you actually want it or not, then deleting it is tedious.

Could it be changed to either:-

1) a notification pops up of what the item is, so you can walk on and ignore it or press collect or something if you want the item, or,

2) its done similar to how gathering resourses is done from under trees, but depending on you scav level its shows 1,2, 3, 4 or 5 items at once.

this way you can narrow down more to what you actually want to collect, eg maybe i dont want metal decorations, but want nails and metal sheets, this allows you to focus your time on items which actually interest you and cuts down pointless wasted time.

I think better to choose from a list of items and you can attempt to get it.

But this is better than what we currently got by a long shot.

I like the idea. It would take a lot of the tediousness out of scaving.

My future plan is to make scavenging a mini-game (like concentration) which would allow players better selection over what they are getting. I am also considering separating scavenging into categories so that players can choose more specifically what they are looking for (for example: building materials, crafting materials, schemes or completely random).

Cool, i think things like this would hopefully retain players better as it reduces randomness and allows players to feel their gaming time is productive with a better user experience.

Yes to all the above! Would love to see less randomness and better selections in Scaving.

Dont find this one as important as these two:
Scavenging without having to drop cart.
Seperated containers "again"
Need something to protect supreme quality staff from autostacking first of all.

Actually I even like randomness in a way. It increases the cost of found materials.
But having some filters on type and quality of mats I actually want to pivk up would certainly be convinient.

I enjoyed scaving when I first started playing 3 years ago but after hours and hours of it combined with the fact that I now don't need or want most all the random stuff I get it has become something I just won't bother with anymore. So this could be a newer player vs an older player issue. If so, the changes mentioned above could become available after reaching a skill level of 90 in scav. That is of course IF most newer players feel like ilius above. Either way I think Scaving can and should be improved in the direction of the comments above.

I like your idea, leveling up would allow you to get more focused.

However, this needs some careful thought in how it's implemented or the need for trading with other players will become pointless.

Im a new player and for me i dont mind scavenging except for the whole cart problem. i toss out tons of metal objects that could be used for down the road crafting because its not efficient when im looking for nails or dollars or schematics. My current opinion is thats just the tough love of scavenging. I like the idea of using scavenge and having the choice of picking something up and every tier of 25 50 75 itll display an extra item you can pick up and if both are picked up the window displays nothing like grass when you use it up. Definitly like the randomness of it all keeps it interesting. And i get to spam all the new stuff i get and ask if its good to the tribe leader "Hey sleaze should i keep these plastic piece" He says no everytime but I'm sure I can get him to come around. Which also points to one of gripe is that most of the stuff is for the most part useless which is fine it goes along with scrapping but I would love to see a smelting option and a Blacksmith Skill added to supplement. And idea would be for it to allow you smelt down scrap metal to 25 then things with small in the name @50 medium and 75 large. To maintain some of the randomness have for smelting copper gives you raw copper and iron to iron etc. THAT SAID For the time being i havent had any problem finding nails for the small projects Ive worked on whether it be through trade or scavenging so this would be in my opinion a large scope project problem.
