Increase Small animal spawn rate
Increase Small animal spawn rate

Ok now this is just getting crazy I am running around everywhere and
can't find anything to kill I have checked multiple zones as well
including 699, 700, 659, 739 and other zones.

My home zone is 699

http://www.zoom.it/wKmT

Really there are not enough small animals out there right now
a lot of the smaller stuff like ground squirrels, hamsters, rabbits
etc.

Can you please increase the spawn rate on these yes I know
you are working on a patch for the animals but in the mean time
can you please turn up the spawn rate on them so that people who
are working on bone crafting and hunting have something to hunt

I am not hunting near the lake I am hunting quite far in land and hunting
near medium, high and extreme zones a lot of the smaller animals are just
simply not there.

i go out hunting for hours and find nothing!

Right now it is baron on the south part of the map if you have to modify the
code and reboot the server for the changes to take effect then please do it.

The way things are right now are not good make the smaller animals screw
like rabbits and spawn faster please.

The spawn rate on smaller animals right now is way too low and there obviously
isn't enough of them. The spawn rate of the smaller animals need to be
turned up quite significantly.

I play on the War Server, but I've been on the peace server and I know what you mean, but you gotta think about the other players. They probably hunt the first animal they see, thus not allowing for good repopulation. You need to either lay off the hunting, search in some danger zones, or find areas that are uninhabited by most people. The animals might be dangerous, but they're animals. Not only that, but because of the extreme hunting, the small animals probably migrated somewhere to avoid getting hunted. You should cage some animals, especially male and females of the same species, so they can reproduce and you can get a farm going.

Technically we are not supposed to make zoos or cage animals like that but Xsyon
has made an exception and has allowed it for now until he gets the animal
patch that he is working on done.

This is his position on it from another bug report I made.

https://www.xsyon.com/project.php?projectid=1

"3) Penning creatures was for a long while prohibited as trapping creatures in this manner was not an intentional part of the game. I've changed this stance to allow players to create zoos without exploiting creatures until I patch out the creature revisions I am working on."

I don't need to lay off hunting either if there are a lot of hunters in an area there isn't
enough small animal population for everyone. And I have gone to other places and it
doesn't seem to be good really in most places.

A increase of the smaller animals is definitely needed on this game!

I will look into it as part of the first creature update that I patch out.

I haven't run the creature migration functions in a while. That's likely a big reason why you are not seeing enough creatures. The actual creature population per creature type is within the parameters I set years ago, but the distribution isn't currently balanced.

Thanks

That would be awesome to see more animals. I haven't been hunting in a while due to the decrease in animals.

So what kind of machine is this game running on anyways is it a Windows based machine or a linux / unix based OS?

Would it be possible to say run a cronjob to say run run the script once a week or once every couple of weeks
to be able to keep the animal numbers up to a half decent level?

Or if this is a Windows machine setup some kind of event to run every week or two weeks to be able
to repopulate the animals.

Something like that would be great so that way you won't get busy with something else and forget
to run it.

Thanks,
