Buy a coffee to our guides
Give us a way to buy a coffee (donate) to our guides

I don't know how many people are aware, but our guides are not paid customer service representatives as in other games, but volunteers who effectively waste their own spare time to make our life nicer and easier in Xsyon.

And at least some of them are amazingly helpful and more than once I thought that I would love to have the possibility to just buy them a coffee or a beer or a round of whatever they drink just as a small way of saying thank you.

That's why I would love to see an option somewhere on the site to <buy a coffee> for a guide of our pick (it's a thing I saw on many sites where people volunteer their time and even do it by myself on one of our sites) - it's basically a small (dunno $3 - $10) PayPal donation that, at the end of the month, would end up on those specific guide account.

In order for guides to not tend to be more "friendly" towards the people that keep donating, the donations may be anonymously, so only you (Jordi) would know where they come from, while the guides won't know it.

How much time will it take?

Definitely less than four hours for a web programmer who is familiar with PayPal API. If really needed I can provide the code for it since I have a similar feature implemented on one of our sites (it's a multi-person blog where readers can donate to an individual author)

How could this affect things?

In the worst case it won't affect them at all. Only a couple of people will donate, the amount will be insignificant and you may drop the feature all together after one month.

In the best case the guides will actually get something more than our gratitude from their work, (some of) them may be tempted to be more active and more friendly towards users so we'll all have a better customer support in game (now that now they're not friendly, but there are many times when there is none available for hours) and we, players, won't be so guilty every time we disturb them, knowing there is actually a way to say THANK YOU.

I fully agree with you. This is something that would be a fantastic pat on the back for a guide over getting 2 million thank yous lol!

I completely disagree with this. Not that I dont think guides do a great job. I'm thankful for their time and effort, but doing this would cause a major issue with favoritism which has already been a problem in the past.

If you like the guides the best thing you can do is say so on the forums thanking them, and donate to the game as a whole. (Not sure I need to say this, but In My Opinion AKA IMO)

What if it was set up to be anonymos?

It wouldn't be because the guide would still get it and then the person could say I gave it to them.

Why not just have it set up to give more money to the game? Why give it to 1 guide? I've never seen a game do this and there are many reasons behind it. I see no reason to cross the line, when we already have had issues with in game players and guides/players.

Ex. GuideA gets 100$ check, player in game goes "Hey, I hope you like that bonus I throw your way".

You don't think that could have issues?

And speaking of favoritism, lets hear it for GuideHael! He has been single handedly running the show for the last month or two. If this system was implemented no doubt he would be racking up the "coffees". Thanks Hael, one virtual coffee on me!

Event Calendar looking a bit sparse --somebody help him.
