/unstuck teleport distance
current 5m teleport distance for /unstuck function is too powerful and should be reduced

Today with the 5m teleport distance of the /unstuck function it is almost impossible to design cities and structures that cannot be breached and exploited with the use of this function. Unstuck does have a long term value in the game as it greatly reduces the workload requirements for GMs but the teleportation distance should be reduced to 2m. This will allow players to extract themselves from most death pits while greatly improving the security of structures. I also suggest the implementation of a /suicide command to allow players to extract themselves from more complex situations where unstuck can't help.

Cant you just put walls around your city and then it cant be breached?

Last I checked (last night) you cant /unstuck through a wall.

you can unstuck through walls depending on terrain geometry. only sure way to defeat it is to put the structure down in a pit and then add a roof to prevent intruders from jumping over the wall. This siginificantly limits architectural design of fortresses which is why it needs to be changed. 5 meters is way to far to foresee all of the potentials for exploit based upon intervening items and terrain.

Build your fort with walls not dirt walls, and you wont have this problem.

dude you have no clue. your testing was incomplete. if you have a comment on the suggest feel to express yourself. how i play the game is irrelevant to this suggestion.

Can you show me then? Ive yet to see it where someone can breach well made walls. Simple just dont use dirt. I dont know why you are taking an aggressive tone.

I don't need to show you, i've already shown a dev. I took an agressive tone because you responded back misinterpreting what I was saying and suggesting i don't know how to play the game twice. More time reading and less typing will help correct that. Don't assume because you tested something for a few minutes that you are always right.

Well, dont assume because you tested something that your always right. If you want to try to get into an area I build please let me know. I dont think you can. Ive tested it others have tested it.

What Ive seen players doing is use dirt as walls and then think that will protect them, or stop things like this. You wont show me so I cant test yours, but Im sure if you do I can help you out. I do happen to know a bit about the game and Im more than willing to help you make your walls protect your area. Ive done it for others.

Sadly not all devs know whats going on either. Ive seen many times a dev says something isnt right, then turns out its working as intended.

dirt terrain is not a wall in this game regardless of slope. a wall is a structure made and placed through the architecture function. my comments were directed to exploits vs. these structures that i've uncovered. of course you (and I) can design structures that aren't subject to these exploits. you continue to infer that because i made a suggest that i am somehow having difficulty playing the game. that's far from the truth and not pertinent to this suggestion as i stated previously.

You are asking for a change in something that Ive yet to see as broken. You can prevent people from /unstucking into your tribe by using walls. You say you can get past them. Thus I dont agree with this suggestion until I see otherwise that you can get past walls using /unstuck.
What is more likely is that you believe you can because you didnt correctly build the walls to prevent people from /unstucking like using dirt as a building of a wall. Instead of using walls as a building of a wall. Again, fix to this isnt to change /unstuck, but to learn to build correctly.

So your knowledge or lack there of is what should change not change the game to fit how much you know about the game.

if you haven't figured it out already i haven't asked for your approval/disapproval of the suggestion and could care less about your opinion of it. if there was an option that allowed me to submit it without you seeing it i would.

you talk as if you are a dev when you are not. every game has one. the expert on everything who can't stand it when someone else has input on something and is obsessed with having the last word and justifying to himself that he's correct.

You cant privately submit it. There is a check-box at the bottom. Says "Private"

The whole point is to allow others to give opinions and debate them. I'm giving you mine, because you posted it as a suggestion and I'm sure others will do the same if they feel the need for it. I wish we had more opinions on here, and players like you to post them. Not all ideas are going to be good, not all are bad.

IMO the 5m jump is fine and I agree with DDTís point of view. Reducing the distance won't be enough in some /unstuck situations and it would become even more annoying with the 3 minute cool-down timer (or whatever it is) we have now.

I see your point and people will exploit this feature to get into places you don't want them in, but as we all know, for now our bins on our tribeland are locked down to outsiders unless we open them up via the Friend option. If this changes with new PVP rule and/or totem conquest (or whatever you want to call it), but Iím sure the devs are considering the affects of this feature in their new PVP design.

Iíve thought about this before and I suggest the /unstuck feature changes on PVP flagged tribelands. Perhaps, anyone who uses the /unstuck command gets kicked outside of the perimeter instead of 5m forward. This could address 8driverís request, but unfortunately it would create another. People would be able to port out of your tribeland or teleport someone to safety during a fight-gone-bad with quick keystrokes.

Itís a necessary evil(?) that we must have when we really are stuck, but I donít think there is a fix-all to this feature. Meh. /shrugs

So guys (and specificly MrDDT Because I know hes seen how Ihve built my keep.) would you consider my walls to be well-made? They are pretty thick as Im sure youve noticed. :D

Anyway, the point is that my keep is actually, despite all my efforts to build an impressive wall, very easy to breach with unstuck. I think this was the point 8driver was trying to make before he went off on a DDT induced tantrum. And Ihve bolded it, because unlike everything else in this post its important: When you unstuck, your character moves horizontally 5m, but afaik the distance you can move vertically is not capped. This means that you move 5m horizontally and then it deposites you at whatever surface it can find vertically. Oups, you just unstuck out under 3m of wall and into my keep, funny how that works.

Something needs to be done with the unstuck working like it does currently. It's being used to circumvent defenses to gain access to what should not be accessible by those you are trying to keep out.

Would it be at all possible to program it so the game checks to confirm the stuck position and hence need for /unstuck? (if I had a paygrade, this would surely be above it)

When it comes to defenses though there's also rather unrealistic jumping heights etc. I presume all of that would be reviewed before any fundamental safety changes are made. To be honest, kinda feels like there are many other things that might seem higher on the priority list dev-cycle wise but I'm kinda biased :)

For now, if someone unstucks into my place, not sure they can unstuck out. I'd be happy to find some company imprisoned errr, I mean chillin when I log in.

I understand people's concern about the /unstuck getting abused. Yes it can be however, again with proper planning you can prevent people from getting into your place. Does it limit you? Yes. As would being stuck in a ditch until a GM got online to fix it.

Which is worse? Having someone get into your place/and being slightly limited on how you can build? Or having players that are stuck in game and unable to get free sitting there not able to do anything but chat until a GM or Dev fixed it for them.
The limitations on the building is still there with a 3m stuck range. So that will not change the problem only lessen, while causing the problem with players getting stuck until a GM gets on goes up.

P.S. Book yes you can just walk outside of your place "The Library" I was there last night. You have a unmeshed wall that you need to make touch instead of having a huge gap. Also you have ramp tents inside your place which you can easy jump over.

Yeah, still getting settled in to that spot. What you saw is the quick n' dirty set-up to make sure I'm ready for mutants. Let me know you're stopping by next time, I'll get some fresh fish.

Incidentally, I know GuideRaguel posted about getting some more guides. If there can be responsible people to fill those positions round the clock, then yes, the guide is the most tamper proof solution to this.
