Gadu beam 8m seems bugged
gadu beam sits to high in other truss types

First a question: Is the gadu beam able to be used with other types of trusses or just with gadu trusses?

When I use it in a pioneer truss it places high, right at the top or one or two clicks just above the actual truss. When I place a wall over the beam it sits two to three clicks higher than an adjacent wall that sits on the pioneer truss. This causes my walls on one level to sit at different hights and will become a problem as I build upwards.

Also, again I'm running into height limits which is really a drag and it seems like a 5 minute number adjustment could allow us to build higher (say double what's allowed now).

And, it would really be nice to be able to put rails right on floors rather than having to drop them over the edge and into the truss. What this does not take into consideration is the older structures. With the new Arch system the idea was to allow players to keep all their mutil-level builds but have the newer system in place. It would be nice to be able to put railing on our older structures but since THEY DONT HAVE TRUSSES this can not be done at present.

Thx

I'm having the same problem with a mason 8m beam placed in the pioneer cantilever truss 8x8. So I'm guessing that the problem may lie in the new 8x8 cantilever trusses... Beams are not setting flush in them and are placing too high.

Any chance of having the pioneer cantilever truss 8x8 code fixed by the next update? I have halted my build until these are working.

In my experience, beams only work between trusses, not cantilevers.

Sounds like a good time to get that fixed if so. I can not think of any reason why beams should not work in cantilevers especially when you pay 10k for one.

Here's a SS of the way the beam is placing too high in the cantilever. It should drop in flush with the truss. My whole build on war server is using the pioneer cantilever truss 8x8. I'm at a standstill since I can't progress without this working properly.

Cantilevers and Trusses are different buildings, and treat beams differently. Beams can be tricky to begin with, but aren't bugged.

You can place them:

- On top of the ground (the height value on the object panel screen should match the height value on the terraforming panel)
- On top of cantilevers (cantilever height is 4m, so the height value on the object panel should be [the height value of cantilever]+4)
- INSIDE the top of trusses (the height of a truss is 4m, and the top of it is 0.4m thick, so the height value on the object panel should be [the height value of truss]+3.6)

It's worth noting that on both cantilevers and trusses you can also place 0.1m lower. On the ground you can place them as low as you want, as long as the center isn't 0.4 underground and both ends are supported.

Putting beams on cantilevers and trusses will obviously give you different results. Putting beams on cantilevers for example will let you build a floor out of beams, which will not look right on trusses. Each method has it's own pros and cons.

It would be nice to be able to do everything with both cantilevers and trusses, though.

TL;DR: Neither the beams, trusses nor cantilevers are particularly bugged - trusses and cantilevers currently work in different ways with pros and cons in each way, though I don't know if that's intended or not.

Ground: Height+0
Truss: Height+3.6
Cantilever: Height+4

And you don't question why this is? Again, there is no reason why cantilever trusses and regular trusses should not work the same way. Cantilever trusses should allow beams to set flush with the rest of the truss so any walls built on them will set at the same height as a wall setting on just the truss.

If you want to keep the bugged placement of a beam in a cant truss Xsyon can allow them to place anywhere within the parameters listed above that will allow for CORRECT placement and any other fudging someone might want.

I've updated the Test Server so that placement of beams in cantilevers should the same as in regular trusses.

Please let me know if this works correctly now or if there are new issues with this.

Thanks!

On test (since it's a copy of Peace server) I don't have the exact same cantilever truss as the one I'm using on War server BUT, I am able to place a beam in a cantilever truss and have it flush with the truss correctly. Many Thanks!

May I ask when will this patch to War & Peace servers?
