is it because they are power 1 ? i know 0.25 is white, 0.50 is green 0.75 is blue
its a change he made to resources, i gather purple bones now for example

Yes, it should be based on power (and not quality). What power is on the materials?

Any power. White scrape

Any power yields purple parts. White found leather scraps and white thread using non-pioneer tools make purple leather straps.

The Power on Scavenged leather like "found leather" is 1.0

you are confusing the STAT with Power

All scaved leather will give purple fringes because scav leather is power 1

the stat on scaveneged leather is 0.25 but its power is 1

its working as intended, you are mixing up the stat on scavenged leather with the power rating which is hidden but it is power 1 on scav leather

these are the STATs (not the power its hidden on scavved leather)

patch INT 0.50 stat
found FORT 0.25 stat
pleather AGI 0.25 stat
patent DEX 0.25 stat
lambskin STR 0.25

this change was made a long while back

Junk pile leather doesn't have a visible power level, pulled some fresh just to make sure, and it shows as being white quality.

Does seem strange, that the crappiest leather in game can create leather items with the power level of full grown adult male animals, at the most I would have thought Power 0.20 which is the lowest Power you can get from animal leather.

I already said the Power level is hidden on scavenged leather ( It use to show, now it doesnt)

OK

Here is the full listing for Found leather.
Found Leather 0.25 Fort Stat - Power 1.0

And here is the listing for a max hp mutant deer
Dear Leather 1.00 Fort stat - Power 1.0

Can you see the difference.

The way crafting works is this..

Stat x Power = stat on item

So for the Found leather its Fort stat 0.25 x power 1.0 = 0.25 fort stat on the item
ie 0.25 x 1.0 = 0.25

For the mutant deer its this

Deer Leather fort stat 1.0 x power 1.0 = 1.0 fort stat
ie 1.0 x 1.0 = 1.0

You see the difference

The crappiest leather in the game is still crap because even though its power is 1.0 multiplied by the 0.25 fort stat, still makes it crap.

the crafting is more complicated then ive shown, theres modifiers on top of that calculation that reduce the stat (your skill and stat levels etc)
