Railing not placing on floor
Railing placed on truss supported floor stays (red) invalid

I have moved the railing around and adjusted on the z axis, It remains red. Tried pioneer and mason railing and both stay red. I can't find reqs for railing placement on forums but I see no reason this placement should not work?

Looks like you are trying to place railings over beams. Railings are much more picky than floors. It is likely that you will need to adjust the placement of the beam under that railing. After of course dissembling all the floors (learned this the hard way).

Not sure I understand you. The cantilever under the floor is supported by post and placed in rows. Moving anything would cause something else to be invalid. Everything placed and built fine just the rail does not seem to work over a floor at all. When place over a platform the rail works. Seems to me the railings all need to be adjusted to work on floors and beams, etc.

Railings are counted as walls and as such only will be supported over floors on the last 0.1 m of the beam or truss. If the floor isn't centered perfectly on the truss (cantilever counts as a truss) you cannot place a wall on the edge if it overhangs although you might on the other side.

Ok, so railings count as walls. Good to know. This one is placed on a floor directly over the truss below. When moved left or right it stays red. The roof's behind the railing are also directly over the truss below and are grey (valid). I'm sticking with my thought that they need to be adjusted to work/ place better in this situation. I'll try an actual wall here tonight and see how that does.

You should be able to move that railing out a bit and sink it into the floor, so that it sits right on the truss below instead of the floor. Basically set your units to 0.1 and move the railing out until you can move it down. Once you can move it down, move it until it turns yellow.

Let me know if you don't understand what I mean. I can take a screenshot for you.

You're right, I can probably allow railing to sit directly on floors instead of requiring direct truss support like walls. I'll think about that.

If I remember right, more than one .10 click out and it falls off the side. I'll try sinking it down to the truss later tonight to see what happens. Thanks for response. I'll post results.

Ok, thanks for all the coaching. I managed to get it into place and valid.

Next architecture round I may set up railing to be more flexible in regards to where they can be placed.

Thanks!

I would love to see a bit more flexibility with railings. Placing directly on floors would open up a ton of options for decorating or dividing up large open rooms etc. As well for some of us old builders that would rather not need to tear down our old builds just to add a railing.

Another thought on railings is I would love to see slanted railings for ramps. It would give a nice completed look to decks with ramps.
