No fire has the Flame animation
Ive just completely re-installed Xsyon because of crashes to desktop
(the crashes to desktop is cured so far)

But i have new bug in a brand new install

I cant see the flames of any fire.

I see its light, I can cook on it, but the fire has no flames animation.

Other people can look at the same fire and its fine on their screen.

Ive heard that a file needs to be renamed but ive no idea which file

Ive looked in the Scripts folder and theres lots of files with the ext .fx or .fxc
but there is one file with the exstention .effect

the file is fx_001.effect

Is the file i need to rename ?

Another player reported this but I can't figure out the problem yet. The file that controls the flames is fx_001.effect as you figured out.

What did other players suggest that you rename it to?

If other players have seen this and have a solution, it would greatly help me figure out what's going wrong.

I was able to reproduce this bug.

wifes computer seems to be working fine, 2ndary computer with fresh install see's same fire without fire animations.

Unfortunately I dont know what the file should be renamed to.

Also I have a second PC with Xsyon installed, that doesnt have the problem but it also HAS the same file fx_001.effect.

Also that Scripts folder on that Old install has many more files then the new install on my main PC.

So im lost now as what to do next.

Actually Ive just tested the OLD install on the 2nd PC and that too has the bug, No flame animation
so it seems it IS that file fx_001.effect.

the question is now, what to rename it to.

another test, I tried re-naming fx_001.effect to both fx_001.fxc and fx_001.fx

neiher worked AND the launcher re-downloaded the now missing file fx_001.effect each time.


So it seems it may not even be that particular file.

Having this issue with normal Xsyon install, but not steam install.

If you guys hear more info on someone who renamed a file to fix this issue, let me know. It doesn't make any sense, but this bug in general isn't making any sense to me. With all the code changes I made throughout the game engine, the flame effect isn't something I touched.

It's very weird.

I've patched a file to fix this. I must have accidentally removed a necessary data file during the last update.

Please let me know if this appears fixed now. The patched file affected all servers so it should be ok on the main servers.
