Sleep / beds
Gaining a bonus for a proper sleep

I think sleeping is a good way to add immersion. Add a bed/mat/hide to your tent/tepee/roof structure ect and say the equivalent of a 4 hr sleep would give you a decent 'well rested' buff for the day. make the bonus worth it so getting your daily sleep is important. yes sitting waiting for a 4 hour sleep(game time) is not 'fun gameplay' but whatever the real time equivalent is and the bonus received I think would be a great feature. It would also work in well with the comfort ect that are coming.

8 hours... well in a post apocalyptic world I dont think i would need 8 hours a night, I get about 6 IRL and with mutant animals around i would be happy with 4 lol.

I dont like things in game that promote people to log off. If you dont want to play thats fine, but I dont think you should get a bonus for not playing.
There are lots of other bonuses that can be done I dont think this is something that should be worried about.

Maybe start with bonuses like healing bonus while in a medical area (house/room)? or faster energy regen while indoors. Beds, that pretty much force people to log off to get proper bonus? Nawh.

I am not meaning logging off, I am meaning a (5min - 10min real time) 4hr game time sleep. Add a bit of reality type thing. It would promote getting back to your tribal area to rest up for the buff. Once Rent-able spaces come in you can rest up at your rented property ect. At the moment the only thing night does is make stuff harder to see

Why would you want to promote having to go back home to rest up for a buff? Sounds like a pain if the buff is really good ect. But with cooking buffs I think it would be a loss of time for the devs with lil gained by players. But I like to see people think up stuff to improve and ad depth to the game...this one just isent worth the effort is all.

10mins real time = less than 2 hours real time.
Does someone really want to wait around 10mins online for a buff?

Why not just have it a buff for renting a house and crafting in it or something?

There are other ways to give night buffs / debuffs. I believe not able to see well at night is pretty bad already, just its few things that creep out at all that is the problem. If you had stronger animals that could kill a player then maybe going out at night when you cant see well would be more fearful.

Sure why not, we're waiting 3-4 mins to heal up from near death. Why not move 'inspirations' from random crafting to waking from your sleep... you build up the chance as you craft but need to sleep to be inspired. Cooking, comfort, wet, cold ect are all to break up the grind.

To me it seems the game is working towards living through a day. We dont have to stop atm, which for the "I need to level asap to max" crowd like, but if you had to actually go through daily chores it would add a lot of variety imo.

On other threads you complain that buildings have no purpose... well this is a purpose :)

Buff for renting doesnt make sense but crafting inside does, maybe 5min sleep or 10min crafting...

"Why would you want to promote having to go back home to rest up for a buff?"
In real life you feel better after a good nights sleep in your bed... It would also promote renting from other tribes since the buff is beneficial. If I have scrap i need from 4 zones away I could rent a bed/room form a nearby tribe to make it easier. If i am a hunter I might rent 3-4 rooms around the map so i can keep on the move...

Sounds boring and not fun at all to me. "Go through daily chores" really? That's your drive to saying it will be a good system?

"Renting and Crafting in it" not just renting. Its a combo thing, meaning you own it you get a buff vs if you just walk into a building and craft in it.

I think getting a buff from renting AKA being in a house is great. I dont believe in systems which make people NOT play. IE you wait 8mins to get your buff while you "sleep" same as laying on the ground. I dont agree that should be the way to get your energy back up. It should be from a crafting system or at least keep it fluid so people dont get bored of playing.

Laying on the ground resting for energy is a good idea in theory however, when you play it gets boring fast. When you start to find that traveling you spend 25% of your time laying on the ground unable to do anything (AKA NOT PLAYING).

Thats the way the game is now already? So how would it be any different? If I can lay down for 10 mins near a campfire on a hide and get a bonus so that I don't have to lay down and rest as much I think I would signup for that. Honestly I think its a good idea with some tweaking, if they could put a camping system in like they did in Star wars Galaxies I think it would be cool. Get a bonus to spirit, and endurance and a rested state so that you burn less energy when running or walking. I think it could work, with some tweaking to this idea.

My suggestion. Give a buff if you log off your account when situated in a house/tent/teepee.

I agree with DDT on the no bonus for not playing. I dont like anything being gained while offline.

Anyway was just something I thought would add more realism to the day to day(in game) play style the game is. It would make the game harder because it adds another facet you have to take into consideration imo

@Fyrex,

My point is not to have to lay down all the time and rest. Maybe using potions, food, special gear etc. These things add items to the game that would allow both crafters and combat players to want to play MORE not lay down and go afk for a while.

Of course if there was a buff in game where I stopped playing for 10mins that it would save me hours of not playing I would do it. However, my whole point is that NEITHER should be done in the game and you shouldnt promote more offline play.

People log off, or go afk, then end up not coming back to play. Meaning less people playing as a whole. You give things people can do that make them actively play, and they tend to stay playing.

I say add beds but solely for the purpose of decreasing the time it takes to rest from zero to full energy and health... Some laborious crafting tasks suck the energy and way to cut that rest time down would be nice....
