Terraforming needs a lift

Terraforming needs a lift
TF needs more functionality after it's fixed

If feel that Terraforming could be made better. While it's a kick-booty system right now, it is (needless to say) the cause of some headaches. Features I'd like to see in TF:

1. mass-clearing/flattening/raising land in patterns. For example, I'd like to raise all the land in front of my character by one-level in a column 1 wide x 1 high x5 long. The max amount of land affected would be based upon skill level in TF. Or, lower an area of land, 2wide x 1 deep x 2 long.
2. better 'leveling' system. The current leveling system... I either don't understand how it works or it's not smart enough to figure out what I want to do. It'd be cool if the piece of sloped land I was standing on could be leveled out with the land I was facing or pointed at with my mouse. Or, possibly sometime configurable in a pop-up interface.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks for reading!

Also flatten of the ground is something i do not understand. If you have dirt and a shovel I think it must be possible to flatten the ground or am I wrong?
Only when you raise the ground you can make it flat.

Are you saying that unmodified ground can not be made level? Or are leveling and flattening two different things to you? Trying to understand.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, im not so good in technical English (smile)
Its very difficult to flatten unmodified ground. Try to use the function level in terraforming to flatten that ground and you still see bumps.
If you go flatten the ground in your garden, you take some "dirt" and make flat. I like to see that here also.
Seems more realistic.

Oh, okay, I think I understand. I'll have to try that out. I don't recall if I have or not. :)

What would make terraforming much better is a change in the amount of dirt you move, more control.

As it is now, you raise/lower the land .5 each time and move 1 dirt. First, change the dirt moved by a factor of 10, or at least 5.

Then add a finer raise/lower option, trim/sprinkle or something and have that raise lower the dirt but 1/10 or 1/5. This will get you much closer to the target elevation making leveling much easier since it will be closer to the target from the start.

Then add a grid system that highlights the tile or poly edges for a few meters around the player when the terraforming window is open and since this games works on an area, not nearest corner like wurm, have a darker or brighter/different color highlight of the grid for the area that would be effected. We know what effect we have in real life when we use a shovel.

Very nice idea, I like it A LOT!

Even the most perfectly leveled ground looks bumpy due to the dirt texture. It has small mounds and clods, etc in it that give the impression that it isn't really level. Dunno if it has a second bump mapping texture that enhances the look or not, but from the side my leveled areas have a laser precision sharp edge.
