Animals and lag

I have noticed that the lag seems to be worse with animals and revenants. I was on the edge of a mountain and out of no where a coyote popped up beside me. Its like he came up thru the mountain. No animation, I could seem him glide up. I could not sprint but continued to move forward. I had full life over 80 hp and 30 to 40 energy. He killed me even though I know I was way out in front of him. I have played this game for years and have never seen this happen. I could always keep moving and avoid being killed. Then it happened again with a revenant. Is this lag or are the creatures moving differently? When killing small animals, I have noticed they don't run away or attack back. Is this a change?

There have been several reports of strange changes with creatures. I really don't know what's going on.

I've checked the data and what's on the Main Servers is the same as it's been (I didn't patch any new data by accident). The AI on the Main Servers is also the same without any of my new system patched.

The only changes are due to libraries that have been upgraded in particular, DirectX Math functions that are used in the AI. I honestly don't see how changes in those libraries could cause changes to creature behavior or speed though.

Also, in zones where players have created 'zoos' with many creatures, incoming creature position commands can pile up on the client side and cause erratic behavior as the processing queue tries to catch up.

Rather than spend more time trying to replicate these kind of issues I'm going to continue with my new AI system so that I can patch it finally to the Main Servers.

The current system on the Main Servers is convoluted and has always had many problems. I didn't program that system and I'm replacing it entirely with a much more streamlined system that should resolve all the problems we've had in the past. I'm close to wrapping it up!
