The issue is that during your skill up as you are crafting items; as soon as you gain a recipe you are immediately stopped by the game in the middle of whatever you are doing....so if you had 20 bone stakes you were crafting and you got to #5 the game dumps you out of crafting and you have to select all the tools and ingredients over again and start over at that point.

Please make it bypass this issue when you gain recipes....I believe there are a couple of other skills that do this but most of them allow you to gain recipes in the middle of crafting without breaking the crafting stream.

If I catch the others, I will post which other skill has the same breaking crafting issue.
