Training Dummies
Woodworker Schematics to advance weapon skills

Woodworking only has a few schemes, weapon skill only goes up if you go out hunting pretty much. weaponcrafter weapons don't get much use as a result for players who don't hunt.

Idea as follows:
Training Dummy
Woodcrafting schemes, multiple tiers

Attack dummy with weapon to get that weapons skill up. Increased durability damage to weapon since you are hitting a wooden target and not soft tissue.

This would allow players who do not hunt due to skill advancement restrictions to increase their weapon skills, it would make woodcrafters able to craft more than pioneer barrels (aside from the schemes you get right off the bat). and weapon smithed weapons of lower quality can be used for weapon training. Hash over it, i'd be excited to know if it is a useful idea.

Um, I travel the map killing revenants to increase my combat skills, you also have green points so you can boost your combat skills with those.

That sounds good, but this would also help the woodcraft skill line without putting a major impact on skilling up weapon combat. In the PVP server the combat training is not as hard as the PVE server as you can train up with a friend.

Killing Rev's is a great idea and I suggest that, I also see nothing wrong with adding another item into the woodcraft line that would be useful and fun.

But I would say we should have chests first haha.

Voted yes then, noted yes now.

I do agree with my old statements but at this point it's redundant to keep saying everything needs to reenforce economy.

Many actions need to be looked at when you do anything to the game. Like this the skill and mats needed to make it need to be thought about for many reasons.
First thing should be "Does it make the game more fun? Does it add to the game?"
Next thing should be "How will it affect economy? How can we make the economy stronger with this."
Next should be "How do we best go about this with the best way to put it in, effects on cities and how will players use them and misuse it?"

These are basic things you should ask in everything that is being put in the game or being taken out of the game.

My main question is: Would this be fun to do in game? For me, personally, the answer is no.

If the real issue is that creatures are too difficult, there will be easier creatures to fight when I start rolling out my creature updates.

Is it more fun than looking for hours and hours for animals you can fight that offer no real rewards for the fight?

Yes you can get crafting mats, but after you kill 5 or 10 of them you don't need that many more mats, other than to grind a skill (which a combat player might not even want to do).

So you need like 100000 attacks on animals to max out a skill, how many animals and weeks would it take to do? Is killing animals hard? HECK NO. But you kill an animal in like 3 to 10 hits on the type of animals you would be training on. So you spend 30s to 1min killing an animal you get lets say 10 skill ups on. It will take 10000 animals to get to max level, which is already lets say 30s x 10000 = 300,000s or 5000mins or 83.3 hours.
BUT!!!! You also have the 1min to 1 hour time between fights LOOKING FOR AN ANIMAL. So now it goes from 83 hours to like 2000++++++ hours!

So the real problem is not scaled skilling on animals.
Killing a rabbit, should give a max skill gain per attack of very very low, killing a platebackbear should give a max skill gain of very very high.
It would encourge people to fight animals/mobs more in their skill range.
This is why people use Rev's to train up on a lot because they are common in a tribe area and they take a few more hits to kill.

Skill gain should be based on damage done, mob level vs skill level.

Attacking a dummy likely wouldn't be any less fun than fishing or pulling resources.
