"Grass" or "Forest" surface growing

"Forest" surface growing should take place only on blank (cleared) spots around a tree when its growing.
Dependent on tree size, the area which gets new "Forest" surface grown will increase, so you can benefit
when you let a tree grow to full size, that you get more resources from it.

Regrow of "Forest" surface (when you only harvest part of the 4 resources) should take place at the speed of 1 resource an ingame day.

"Grass" surface growing should work by introducing grass seeds (you get it random when foraging). You can plant this seed only on blank spots and it grows in size 1 - 2 times so it covers a larger area until it finally converts to normal grass ressource which can be harvested.

Regrow of "Grass" surface should work same as for "Forest" surface.

Tybor

Agree with this or at least some kind of system to restore grass and branch/forest tiles until the systems are working and in place.

But, please...for the love of all things holy, if you're going to make grass a plantable thing, PLEASE PLEASE make it either 1x1 tile with NO buffer area or something to that effect. I tried to plant a tree yesterday (aspen) and the only thing standing in my way (according to the message system) was a felled tree that I measured off at 300 meters away....a felled tree 1/3 of a zone away blocked me from planting a tree. Grass needs to be plantable on a tile as long as that tile is clear of obstructions.

Thanks!

Agreed, especially if planting grass seeds becomes the first step towards agriculture :)
