Massive FPS drop
Loosing fps while staring big buildings

A friend of mine ad I have noticed a massive FPS drop while staring big buildgins (example: tribes with a large developed area with many realized architecture projects). Both of our computers are new and use best gaming configurations around, we run every game (even AAA games) at very high-ultra settings with no FPS problems. I even use a 144 Hz monitor and almost every game run at 144 fps.

Hi Khalart,

Can you give me an exact location to take a look at?

What does your frame rate drop to?

Unfortunately I've already spent much of the past few months optimizing the code to deal with the large amount of construction going on. One of the problems is the amount of construction 'ghost' objects as they render transparent so they aren't culled from view as easily as other objects.

I have some improvements I want to try out (allowing players to merge wall objects for example, to reduce the number of objects in a scene) and I could test out some theoretical optimizations with you on the Test Server in the coming weeks if you can first give me some specific location or locations to check.

Thanks!

Hi, for example you can check the issue while looking at Twilight tribe, PvE server, don't remember coords atm.

My framerate i usually stable around 90-100 fps and drop to 15-20 fps.

This evening I will try in full-screen mode as long as windowed mode presents the issue.

Alright. Please post a screenshot of your settings. Then I can ask you to switch some settings on or off to see what is having the greatest effect.

The main issue really is the massive number of objects but with a few tests I can take some note on what I should try to optimize next (rendering, collision etc.)

Thanks!

I'm closing this one. I will continue optimizing the game but technically this is not a bug.

Same here, I starder the game with 12 FPS. Going 1920x1080 with all details to maximum or 1366x768 with all to minimun it won't change much.

My configuration:
- Intel Core i5-3470 3,2GHz
- 16GB ram
- AMD Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 4GB
- Windows 7 64 bit

I don't know in other areas, but the game can't be played.

I don't know if it's a bug or not (I think yes, graphic or performance bug), but since I paid to play, a solution would be welcomed...

Hello,

My computer is very close to yours and i do not have the same issues in that you are describing, I run windows mode at 1920x1080

My build
- AMD FX 6350
-24GB ram
-AMD Asus Radeon r9 390x 8GB
-Windows 10

I have consistent 40+ FPS with only minor issues when loading between zones (CPU and Internet lag) have you tried the latest AMD drivers the newest patch was released on 2/4/16? It may help your issue if not i hope you can find something that will.

Hello Baboo85,

Could you give me an exact location (or locations) in game to check? You can get the exact location from your Map Panel (press M to open the map panel if it's not up).

Is this low frame rate consistent for you or only in a few specific locations (for example, very large tribes)?

Please attach a screenshot of your current settings and I can recommend what options to turn down.

I am always working on optimizations but your frame rate sounds unusually low based on your system specifications.

Yep, lastest drivers. Windows is from fresh installation (the pc has less than 6 months, regarding the old processor).

Ok, this evening I'll log in and I'll post screenshot and the location.

There is the location and the FPS (calculated by FRAPS).
