Sand in the rivers
It appears the only sand is available around the lake

When you walk along the light brown area on the edge of a river, it sounds like sand, it looks like sand but there is no resource. Many tribes have made homes in the mountains to get away from it all but to get sand they have to travel all the way to the lake shore. It is pretty normal for rivers to have sand. Please include this resource on the river edges.

There are "rivers" of sorts with sand, but it is those at lake level that empty into the lake. I have yet to see any above a fall. Rivers that empty into a fall might be deemed too fast to have sand. But I agree, even fast moving rivers have sand.

Perhaps at least a compromise solution that could be easier to implement where sand would be available at the head waters.

I say that it possibly easier because I assuming there is some type of layered resource mapping and the head water areas would be less "touch" points to map out, thus quicker to implement.

Or... if resource = water and type = river then randomize shore edge with x% of sand (exclude water fall features)

Theres plenty of sand , not all rivers have it but plenty of mountain rivers have sand to.
yes the lake area got the most kinda logical to no?? Mortar can be made on the spot and transported back in large amount as its far far lighter then stone or sand so there is not even a need for it to be close.
many more resources or "items" can only be found in certain regions, and as they enable more you will find yourself traveling to trade hubs far more for your needed goods.
To have everything on your doorstep is not going to happen in this game for sure.
