Special Weapon for scavenging or toolcrafting

Does anyone know, if one of the special weapons can be used either for scavenging, or for toolmaking?

I really don't know about toolmaking but there are no tools required for scavenging- it's done with hands- unless something changed since prelude launch (I haven't logged in a week or so).

You can do terraforming with these shovels.

Only weapons used for anything else than fighting are shovel and pick(terraforming and removing rocks) other skills use tools. So no you can't use weapons in crafts.
