Thread: The chat system

    Question The chat system

Will it be fixed before the final wipe ? Right now the global chat is annoying as hell and the area chat is way too large, it should be at a realistic distance from the character.

Global is going away however I think the way the local chat works is staying which is kind of annoying.

So many people have had an easy transition into this game due to the ability to chat globally with others.

Give the option to turn it off for the shut-ins, but dont take away the option for some new player in a less popluated area to learn the ropes.

We dont want people walking into this game to a silent chat, and getting the impression its a dead game....do we?

Not sure why people are so enraged by seeing others conversation...you dont have to play while fixated ont he chat window....its quite easy to ignore and is really helpful if you do have an issue or question...or need something.

Dont think for a second that a game with a learning curve like this one..that people wont simply move on if they can transition into the game, find a tribe, and be able to enjoy chatting with other people....make the chat optional but dont remove it as a learning tool. Its whats keeping a lot of new players playing...its helping them learn what to do and how to play....why wont anyone think of the noobs!

Cant believe you want even the local chat removed....why even play a multiplayer online game if you cant stand seeing other people enjoying it?
never really thought of this kind of solution. usually the discussion is all or nothing. I like it.

IMO get rid of global, keep local as it is but change the name to "area" chat and make a new local chat that is in the immediate area like as far as one can target. Oh and add chat bubbles for the new local chat that is optional to turn on and off.

As someone who is often the focus of anti-chat rage in game, you have no idea how many people have sent me whispers thanking me for helping them get into the game.

No one wants to be dropped into a game like this and have no way to ask simple questions, simple tasks that could make or break a new players game experience.

Often the first impression of a games "long term playability" is that new player seeing an active chat...often they dont care if its drivel, just knowing that a lot of people are here and active and avialible for help is enough to keep them going.

That was the worst part of mortal online, dropped into a game, no way to ask something simple...sure there was no drivel chat....but it really made the game feel dead, and boring,

People want to play a game with life, seeing an active chat, no matter how stupid the conversation is, confirms that this game does infact have life and active players. Even if they turn off the chat 3min into it, they know its an active and lively game.
