A small canoe to go a little faster then swimming on the lakes would be sweet and a raft that a few people could peice together and ride or that you could stand on and take to for "deepwater" fishing would be sweet. Maybe further out you get a chance to get a bigger than normal fish or something.. I dunno.

I think it was in the FAQ.
Boats are planned during the Prelude but only little one man rafts and max ships for 10 guys. Only for travel without cannons
