    • Movement is fubar'd to all hell. You can just run backwards forever and kite someone since you move at the same speed. At high skill, jump allows you to fly faster than people can run, so chases just turn into two people jumping around and mashing their mouse button.
    • There is no commitment to making attacks, so you can just mash your attack for as long as you have stamina. In M&B, making an attack makes you vulnerable and the animation commits you to the swings you make.
    • Positioning doesn't matter because there is only one hit box.
    • Dodging and parrying aren't actual dodges or blocks, but merely instant damage mitigators that reduce the damage done by the magic pixel cursor bullet.
    • And then there's that whole range thing you dismissed... because you know... it's not like it's an important factor in a game with an archery skill, right?

You might as well just make an argument that PacMan is almost like M&B because you can go around and eat ghosts in real time. Actually PacMan has better combat because it doesn't require you to futilely try to keep a reticle on someone while mashing the shit out of two mouse buttons.

Well XYSON has probably the worst combat system I've ever seen. So hooray for blazing that trail.
excellent synopsis of 'combat' as we know it today.

It is devastatingly clear how combat, in this game, has been neglected. There are a plethora of things to build/craft/gather and all seem to *work* properly...

It is the lack of combat physics and mechanics involving everything in game that is the problem. I doesnt have to be a *clone* of MnB, but why not take the good ideas there and recreate them? Everything else has been improved and evolved...it doesnt seem logical that combat is THAT basic even if it isnt a major "focus" of the game's scope. Its almost intolerable to pve currently with the lackluster combat system.

Agree with RedMorgan - this is the worst ive ever seen of any "combat" in any "game". Atari games had more depth for gods sake!

No where did i say it was m&b combat by the way.. just would be close if you slowed it right down.. this is the case really yes it needs a lot of work to be exactly like m&b..

Also the reason i dismissed the hole range thing is because this game dont have it.. yes its important i totally agree, and yes combat in this sucks balls at the moment but thats not the point i was making lol..

yeah i also agree this is probally the worst combat system i have seen in any game let alone an mmo

Saying Xsyon and M&B combat are similar is just...wrong. Beyond the fact that in both you have weapons and use them, there are no similarities.

I just hope to find a ninja star somewhere in all this damn junk.
