Xsyon was actually planned to "launch" with around 500 subscribers, quietly and under the radar. Then during the Prelude (first 6-9 months), things would be developed and added slowly.
The comparatively huge playerbase that materialised at launch has resulted in Jooki's focus shifting from development to urgently fixing lag and optimising the game code. Add on top of that the efforts to develop a whole new range of tribal land sizes and the mechanics around that. Currently he seems to be struggling to get the ingame systems to work with the much larger population base.
A numer of things that were working during beta are now not even switched on yet. It will take time and patches and fixes to get the "launched" game up to the same level of content we had in beta, so I don't expect much in the way of new features in the next 2 months.
The game will probably be pretty much the same in 2 months' time, but by then it should be stable and a lot of the launch bugs should be gone.
