This exactly why you need a cap, sure you can be joe bum hermit but what ends up happening is the min maxxers come in and screw up the combat system for everyone. then they max out the "content" in a couple of days and the game goes to crap even faster.

im sorry but you are making no sense.. if anyone is to screw up the game it would be people in groups.. It would take months for any solo player to get his skills up high enough to compeat with a group of players. all at the same time that same group is mass producing whatever you want to name. And lets get real. no one will be able to "Max out the content" in a few days. let alone a few months. And if someone wan'ts to put the time and effort into doing something you are not willing to do why try and stop them ? ..

oh and another note on "content" there is no .. "Content" the game has no quests has no point other then what you make for yourself. For some it will be to make the best tribe for others its to make out one or all skills etc... So your argument has no merit.

And what exactly does skill caps have to do with the combat system?... Nothing at all..

A solo player will not have anywhere close to the abilities as a group would. At least not for a very long time.. I don't really understand you guys arguement for a cap. Other then you want to force people into groups and force them to play the game you want them to...Kinda defeats the entire purpose of having a open world where you are free to do what you want..

Argue all you want. The fact is putting limitations on what people can and can't do in game is not a good idea.

and all the arguments for such a cap have fallen short of common sense.
Trade = would have no positive effect in the short or long run. (the game needs players more then it needs anything else) And a single player will never have the same effect on a economy as a well organized group.
Combat = What the hell?.. a group will be producing the top QL gear/weps LONG LONG before any single player ever will. And in higher quantites then any single player ever could make them.

I promote choice. you people who are promoting a skill cap are promoting less choice.. nice little cookie cutter builds that fit into what you think the game should be.
I believe a sandbox game is one where you HAVE a choice to do as you want, NOT limited by what others think you should be able to do..

    Edit.. lets define skill cap..
A skill cap = any limitation of a character to max out all skills no matter how long the player plays and how much effort said player puts into the game.

    No.

Skill cap (really softcap) = limits any one character from having all skills maxxed out at any one time. They can still max out all skills just not at the same time, they would have to lose some to regain others.

It would take months for any solo player to get his skills up high enough to compeat with a group of players.
Problem wouldnt be 1 solo player, it would be the ruleset you are looking for. Heck if 1 player only had all the skills but everyone else were under a skill cap (softcap + decay) I doubt it would have much effect on anything. But that wouldnt be very fair either so people would be upset.
So you would have to allow everyone to have all the skills this is where it messes it up.

Hey look, if you want to do everything and be everything have at it, no one is stopping you with softcap and decay. They are just making it harder. You can still do it.

By not putting a softcap in the game you are limiting other parts of the game. Play it a bit longer maybe you will understand that. Again Devs already said softcap is going to be part of the game, they also said decay and skill pools will be part of the game.

If you dont like that great, keep trying to change peoples minds. Im not seeing anyone here changing their minds about it. Start with facts and data. Then go in with opinions.
