The new system is even better if you want to specialize in an other skill:

    1) spending XP (experience points gained trough getting a skill up) on another skill works now, like if you had performed the skilling up by doing actions - so you will learn new shemes (and your stats should adapt too, if I am not wrong here ?!?) - so switching to a new/other skill is actually easier than before
    2) your stats would adjust more quickly - so in time you will get better and better results - in the old system the stat changes were very slow, so now you adapt much more quickly
    3) health points - before the patch, veteran players had a huge advantage by skilling up all skills, because each level up would provide them with more HPs. Now in the the new system the HP are based (mostly) on stats - so new guys can catch up more easily
    4) XP + receipts gained at skill 100 - in the old system - doing something you were really good at, did not provide you with any benefits (other than producing high quality stuff), you could not even hope to learn new receipts with that skill - so most players stopped performing their 100 skills (which was really a pain, because they could have provided the tribe with needed high quality materials for other skills, however it just did not make sense to persue that skill, once you had reached 100). With the new system - performing your best skill (100) would still give you XP (used to level up other skills eg) and you would also learn new receipts, and your stats for that skill would improve (at least thats what i am hoping for) ...

So the new system is a big improvement, and I dont see the whole discussion about it to getting anywhere - look at the bright side of the changes:
-) get XP for performing actions (and not per raising a skill)
-) spending XP is like performing the skill (instead of just rising a skill)
-) HP mainly based on stats (instead of number of raised skills)
-) user quests give XP for questor and questee (so both players profit from quests)
-) with the new system your character adapts more quickly if you want to persue a new path (so changing your gameplay is easier)

The patch is just the very best thing that could have happend! You all should be celebrating it - instead of moaning that in some unlikely situtations a very small number of players would have an unfair advantage. Who cares?

Play your game! If you enjoy it - consider paying a monthly fee to support the development and the maintainance of the game.
If you dont have fun - just go to another game and stop posting in this forum thanks.

Agreed...people will complain about everything, ESPECIALLY when they choose ignorance by not informing or educating themselves first. This system is SO MUCH BETTER than before...not sure how people can't see that.
