Storage needed in new construction

It's nearly impossible to inject (drop) storage into the new construction engine. I tried placing a smokehouse on the second floor or a building and I can't do it. Previously we would plan for this or another storage item and drop them into the houses as we planned. This is no longer possible as you can't move the smokehouse onto a floor under a roof without being blocked. We could build in storage items 4-5 years ago but no longer can. Placing bins would be OK but that's tacky and ghetto. Oops, you can't drop bins on floors anymore, we had multiple people try and they fall to dirt. Carts are also doable but again, lame.

SUGGESTION:

MAKE THE STORAGE ITEMS LIKE POSTS. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE PLACED ANYWHERE AND ONLY NEED BE BLOCKED BY OTHER STORAGE ITEMS.

I'm not having problems with bins and placing a smoke house on an upper story floor.

as for bins it's sounds like patching didn't work correctly for you, go to where you installed Xsyon, in the Data folder you'll find the Meshes.xsip file, delete it and repatch with the launcher.

I'm not interested in having bins laying around. I came back to see if architecture was fixed. I think that's the only unique aspect left of this game as so many have come out since. Unfortunately this patch seems to be a double edged sword. While terraforming took forever, the drop placement allowed overlap which could be used for aesthetic purposes. In addition, it allowed for storage units like canopies, to be placed in buildings. I'll continue to work at this, but for now I have been unable to get a canopy, or tent inside a room. Not even the canopies that are obviously smaller than the room.

Mason roof most certainly is not in the way.

Actually it is in the way, you can only see the mesh for the visible model, what you can't see is the collision mesh, I believe that for trusses, cantilevers and roofs that mesh is a solid 4x4x4 block, with 8x8s having 4 of them butted together.

Tents and tee-pees and the other storage architecture don't play well with the new stuff, their collisions are quite a bit off, a pup tent for instance wont sit on a truss, 0.5 is as close as it gets, so I get the feeling they are meant to be outside and on the ground.

I will look into 'relaxing' current restrictions. As long as they don't cause problems (as the past trick system did) it can be allowed.

Buildings should be able to be placed on top of floors without a problem. Fitting them within large trusses, if there is space to allow for them without overlap shouldn't be a problem.

This will be worked on further.

Also, it sounds like your main issue is to put storage inside rooms built around trusses and roof frames. With the system changes, I can now move on to adding furniture which will allow for this without having to place an actual smokehouse or other building simply for storage.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the update and response. I'm sure it will be a different world when furniture is in the game. The smoke houses and / picnic canopies are not ideal, but they are much better than bins laying everywhere. And since the size is acceptable, I feel they wouldn't be an 'exploit'.
