I really have to say that this whole "Ganker/Bandit" train of thought needs to stop.
When it comes down to it, there is no such thing as Honorable Murder. In all the years of the US trying to colonize America you could argue that all of the Americans were Gankers/Bandits to the Natives. Where to the Americans the Natives where the bandits/gankers. The day we can stop arguing over this whole "ganking vs honorable" crap is the day we can finally move on to fixing bad mechanics.
PvP is just combat with another player, period, the act of killing a player. The reason will never matter, the how is all we need to fix to ensure its appropriately allowed and the players have the tools to identify why it was allowed to happen.
Back to the suggestion, I like Keith's suggestions with the added requirements:
- Allow PvP Damage in the totem area when the totem exists in a zone with Medium or higher danger.
- Allow PvP Damage in the totem area when the participants are NOT on the same side.
- Disallow All PvP damage between ALL participants when in totem area controlled by neutral tribe.
Why 1) Then you have a safe "lake area" that new players can use to get aclamated to the game.
Why 2) Today side does not matter, this is one less thing to give purpose to the game, If your not playing TEAMDeathMatch your playing free for all.
Why 3) Neutral Tribes should be neutral, Since they are neither Red or Blue they should stop pvp from occurring around them. IE: If your going to fight take it outside(of my totem)
